Cheney tapes - CIA on NPR (Neil Cohen) Try to hear it later - important
because it is on radio even if it is Dec 24 with not that many people listening? Some debate about who investigates preceded by background.

1. Contributor makes good point - we have torturers and they want to
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 02:43 PM by higher class
protect their identity.

My q.

If alleged abusers or killers are 'selected' by corporate newsmakers to be flashed and slashed all over tv for hours a day, why not torturers? Is it because the torturers were paid by we the taxpayers and they don't want us to feel bad about the way our money was spent while the criminals accused of a crime by the press (with their loyal political supporters) do not have to be protected? Gary Condit for example?

The program on NPR was only forty minutes - now it's Britney's sister and her pregnancy and teen pregnancy.

A real talk about torturing and cover up and now back to the real business of the people - celecrities and their important problems.

2. Thanks for the heads up. And, imho, this has little to do with
protecting torturers and everything to do with protecting Cheney.

3. Cheney is like an information black-hole.
Incriminating evidence circles around him and is then sucked in and disappears.

They weren't going to be scape goated by him again. They've been dealing with him too long to be sucked in again.

5. And consider how they have added confliction to our lives - at least
mine. After decades of contempt for the CIA because I believed they worked for Republicans and against Democrats (to the point of facilitating assassinations of Democrats and liberty makers), now I'm cheering them. I feel that I may have to go to a political psychiatrist, if there is such a thing and if I believed it could help me with the schizophrenia which is this country.

6. The CIA has a long bloody history. They probably enabled
the assassination of John Kennedy. I don't know anyone from Latin America that doesn't hate them for enabling butchery. Butchery.

I can't cheer these ruthless people. But I do see that they are now in a war with Dick Cheney.

7. Yes, you are saying it better. Not being able to cheer ruthless people.
This little war between Cheney and the CIA may be a blip then it's back to business as usual.

I will hold out hope that the blip will be the beginning of the end for the direction Cheney is taking us. I hope enought people wake up.

8. I really don't think CIA will let this one go.
They've been reamed by Bush/Cheney and they have to get their territory back under their own control.

We may not see all of it, but, here's hoping with you.

:)
