so we can deduct that 25 Democratic senators voted to fund this illegal criminal activity.

1. Well struck. "But we don't have the votes" or a 60-40 majority, is the lie they'll tell you..
Traitors.

4. My "Democratic" Florida Senator, Nelson, voted for it.
You know, the same one who's responsible for my not being able to vote in the primaries, the one I voted for because voting for a Democrat is always best.

7. Starving funds is an ugly way to end a war
Edited on Wed Dec-19-07 10:47 AM by Hippo_Tron
It can be done, but it's not pretty and it's unprecedented. Yes, congress refused funding requests for Vietnam, but that was after we were already out of there.

Asking a bunch of politicians to cut off funds for a war while forces are still fighting is essentially asking them to hand their opponents the next election. Politicians aren't going to do that because when it comes down to it, they have an inability to think beyond the next election.

The War Powers Resolution needs to be updated to say that Congress can revoke its authorization for the use of military force at any point with a simple majority vote of both chambers.

10. This isn't new. Remember it took Democrats to pass the IWR which was
a violation of the war powers act

It is way past due to start getting new people in the Democratic party that actually believe in Democratic principles

11. We don't have the time . . .
Global Warming is necessitating immediate action ---

and there are still no guarantees that we aren't already too late ---

Look at Oklahoma right now --- they've been without electricity for . . . 10 days?

Where's government response? Anyone?

We'll all be "Katrina-ed" . . .

These disastrous weather conditions will keep compounding ---

As for the Congressional votes for war --- they simply repeated the idiocy of the Gulf of Tonkin
vote --- both based on lies --- and both based on moving the Congressional power to the President!!
