YouTube Video Sparks Conservative ControversyGov. Rick Perry spoke to Republican supporters at an intimate party in Iowa about presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, but when talk came up about budgets and specifically budgets in Texas, he criticized the current president on his lack of fiscal conservatism while he was governor of Texas.
The videos and comments were posted on YouTube by the party host, Craig Nelson, and are sparking controversy for the current Texas governor.
Perry talked about how Giuliani on the contrary has a history of being a supply-side Ronald Reagan Republican, while Bush was never one in Texas.
Perry also said Bush did have to work with Democrats holding top jobs like Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the House, which might be why he spent more rather than cut budgets.
"In '95, '97, '99, George Bush was spending money," Perry said in the YouTube video. "George has never ever been a fiscal conservative. Do you agree? There's a real difference."
