He was a two bit herbalist salesman who made his living by selling HIMSELF to his audiences. He eventually figured out that there was more money in selling politics, and even later discovered that the more extreme he became, the more listeners he could reel in. I remember listening to Savage way back when he was just a local KGO radio personality, and while he's always been on the right, he never used to be this far out there.

Savage, for all practical purposes, is the Howard Stern of political talk radio. He's a shock jock who makes his money by creating controversy and who's career depends on offending someone. I doubt that Savage himself believes half the things he spouts off about.
