Did anyone else watch Extreme Home Makeover? 5 kids with Autism

What are the odds? 6 kids total, 5 have different degrees/types of Autism.

1. Yes, I saw it and I wondered if it was caused by the thermersol...

(sp?)(mercury) that is used as a preservative in the vaccines given to children? That is the big question in our country today! Autism seems to be an epidemic in the US today.

3. It is most likely genetic

and I think this family is evidence of that. Just today I read a story that said scientists have recently isolated the genes responsible for autism. So hopefully we will have some answers explaining the cause soon.

There is no credible research linking themerosol to autism.

I thought the father seemed to have some sort of disability. I missed the very beginning of the show. Did they say anything about whether or not he was disabled?

4. No. Thimerosal Has Been Shown To have No Correlation

It's not clear if the "epidemic" is in the disease, or the diagnosis. Any kid with social issues gets slapped with an autistic label, it's the pathology du jour.

2. I missed it, saw last weeks though - that house is 3 miles from mine

and it looks pretty sweet I might add!

But yeah - 5 kids with autism, that takes a damned strong person to handle.

did they keep on having babies? Are they so close together that no diagnosis was made before they had six?
