Every day Perino, like her predecessors, must repeat and defend false statements made by her employers, and must turn failed policies into ringing successes through verbal spinning and parsing that fools nobody. In the long term, these tasks are impossible. The whole country knows that this emperor is buck naked, and nothing Perino can say will change that.

What kind of person would take the spokesliar job in the first place? I doubt that it pays that well. In fact, Tony Snow had to leave to "make more money". Maybe Perino will eventually do the same.
