Dodd: easy to say fool me once, shame on George Bush, but when she's been fooled twice, shame on her

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/04/495684.aspx

<snip>

"As was the case with Iraq, the latest NIE makes it clear that this President is offering another false bill of goods to Congress and the American people in an attempt to build the case for war with Iran," Dodd said in a statement. "Our experience should have shown us the danger in trusting this Administration as it marched to war. That is why I and many of my colleagues -- at least many of those who bothered to vote -- opposed the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment. Unfortunately, Senator Clinton instead chose to lend credence to the Administration's position." (Note Dodd's subtle dig at Obama, who opposed the measure but didn't vote on it because he was campaigning.)

Dodd concludes, "It's easy to say 'fool me once, shame on George Bush,' but when she's been fooled twice, shame on her."

2. I could vote for dodd
two weeks ago I was leaning on voting for Dennis but the more I read and listen I think I will be voting for Edwards come feb. 5 '08 in our primary as I think he truly could be elected to the presidency. The fact that Elizebeth post here from time to time also gives John a leg up for me. All I know for sure is I want the next president to be someone who knows the pain that us little people out here feel, I think John does.

3. Dodd rocks! He's the only candidate who says he will decriminalize Marijuana, will filibuster
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 03:26 PM by in_cog_ni_to
the FISA telecom immunity bill, and isn't afraid to speak the truth to people who need to hear it. I hope he does well in Iowa and NH. By the time the Primary happens here on Feb 5.... we'll probably have our candidate and I'm hoping it isn't Hillary or Biden. I keep waffling between Dodd and Edwards now. I still can't decide who I'll vote for! I have NEVER had this problem.:(

14. I think Dodd has a lot of guts...
It's ridiculous that people are rotting in prison for marijuana possession, and that our police resources are being used for petty marijuana offenses. Dodd is the only one who has openly said he'd decriminalize, and in this 'war on drugs' age that takes some courage.

I also like his emphasis on restoring our Constitutional rights. I'm an Obama supporter but Dodd is my #2 choice. I think he's tough and smart.

she has been preaching the NEOCON agenda for the middle east for quite a while now. It is disgusting.

7. She gratuitously
reaffirmed her poor judgment on Powell and therefore on any new NEOCON schemes that can enlist liars she still trusts. Regardless of any affiliation to their goals that alone is a danger to future sane policy.
Nor is she alone in the Foggy Bottom set hjudgments that mean big continuing trouble and lack of recognition of what really were our crimes and mistakes. There are way too many things that seem to be worth more than reality and the death of people caught in our policies. Our pols seem too comfortable with the consequences and too loathe to re-evaluate much.

9. With Hillary, the neocons will live to fight another day and another war.
If that NIE was handed to * in August, why did they wait till now to drop it to the public? I've already heard at least one "journalist" on the teevee speculating about how this press conference can change the campaign, with the implication that Hillary was right all along to go along with *'s policy on Iran. All BS, IMHO, because she would go along with his war policies regardless of what they are, as Dodd so accurately pointed out. I think that intelligence is still being manipulated by the neocons.

13. I wonder why the anger now seems to be directed at any Dem right now? Doesn't it kind of lessen the
real evil doers of being held accountable if one attempts to put blame on another?
