How is Elizabeth Edwards health?
As someone who hopes Edwards can pull off the gigantic upset and take the Democratic nomination, I was wondering how Elizabeth's health has been? I remember reading that the cancer was quite serious and I hope everything is ok.

1. Well she is leading the conference
call tomorrow night for NYer's for Edwards so she is still very much active in the campaign. That's a good sign.

2. She's scheduled to give a talk in Houston in May
for the Progressive Forum, so I guess she's doing okay for now.

4. From what I understand, the cancer is treatable
but not curable, at this point. She said she may have months or years, there is no way to know. She says she feels great, and she doesn't want to waste any time feeling sorry for herself. To tell you the truth, I think she wants this as much as John does. There seems to be a purpose to their lives, like, you know, "live everyday like it's your last".

Damn, you know, we may all be wrong about them, and they are conning us, but it sure doesn't feel like it. It feels like a breath of fresh air, like hope really is something more than a word, that we have a chance to be more than serfs. Whether or not, he lets us down, for a time, we have hope, and that in itself is something more than the others are giving us.

5. People in that situation are usually very honest
and don't have the time or inclination to "con" anyone. As the Edwards' say, they probably just feel like enjoying every minute of life as it is. Elizabeth wouldn't be doing this if she didn't want to.

7. It was never curable at ANY point.
Breast cancer is not "curable" at all. The most anyone does is go into remission from it, never suffer a recurrence and die eventually from something else.

But a recurrence can take place at any point in time. In some cases, recurrence is less likelier than others.

The myth that Elizabeth's cancer was ever "curable" at any point is one I'd dearly love to see go.
