What's the weirdest thing you were thankful for?
On Thanksgiving, other than the Hallmark card cliche list of gratefuls, what were/are you thankful for?

But just to let you know, I think we all take for granted those wonderful, lucky, everyday strokes of luck we have. But for now, I'm just interested in the wacky ones.

3. Glad that I
didn't get miffed at the fact that a discussion about Turkey farts and the effect of methane gets locked, but the Menstruation thread was alive and flaming, because I thought the mod/lockers said something about,"No bodily functions thread!"

4. Actually, some bad "kick in the pants" experiences that forced me to reconsider
my first marriage (I got a divorce), and my educational status (I went back to finish my BA, but then continued on for an MA).

Sad to say, it took those two kicks in my butt to get something done that should have been done earlier.

5. That possums do not explode when the temperature reaches 95 degrees.
That crayons are non-toxic. And that housecats do not stand 10 feet tall at the shoulder.

9. I was also thankful
that the old coot(my father-in-law) didn't mention again, within earshot of kids, about the little brothel he'd like to start, or that run-in with the fattest of his harlot women.

11. A friend of mine who I have known for years but until recently have avoided...
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 06:06 PM by Hepburn
...finally dumped the reason I did not wish to be around him. He was my closest friend for years and then in mid-2004 he met and started dating the nastiness, nuttiest, strangest person and finally late this spring he got a clue and got rid of her. What a pleasure to have him back in my life and not be afraid that anytime I so much as had coffee with him, my car would get key scratched. What he saw in this worthless nutcase, I will never know! I guess there is no way to account for his detour into insanity, I am just so thankful he is back and we are friends again.

I know this is a weird thing to be thankful for...but I missed my friend a great deal and had wished for a long time that he would get this problem out of his life. It took him long enough to realize what she was all about, but I am sooooooooooooo thankful he finally did.

:hi:

Edit for typo

12. Knowing an asshole that considered me a friend
He thought enough of me to ask me to babysit his wife while he went skiing with his girlfriend. That led to thirty of the best years of my life. I could say more but I don't want to get into the TMI neighborhood.
