Parents Dead, Toddler Wounded in Alleged Murder-Suicide

A toddler is in intensive care and her parents are dead in what Vallejo police were calling an apparent murder-suicide.

Authorities said the 2-year-old girl's father shot her and her mother Friday night before turning the gun on himself. The couple's 10-year-old son escaped uninjured and called police.

Vernon Val Watson, 41, and his wife Stacie Denise Owens, 38, were both pronounced dead after suffering gunshot wounds, Lt. Rick Nichelman said.

The couple had a history of domestic violence, and police had responded to the residence before, Nichelman said.

The toddler, who was shot in the head, was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland. Nichelman said her "prognosis is not good."

Much of the rest of the advanced world is doing something right about guns and gun kulture. Even Switzerland is changing.

What a hellish, horrible thing to carry throughout his life. I hope he gets good therapy, and has good people to raise him.

6. this happened with friends of ours a few years back

on Valentines day. Husband went home in an attempt to catch soon to be ex wife with new BF. Chased her into the yard, shot her in the head, then turned the gun on himself. Fortunately the baby was asleep at the time and was unharmed.

Why can't they just off themselves? Seems like the rest of that family would have been better off without him.
