A Thanksgiving "Thank you, DU" thread.
I'm grateful for a lot of things this Thanksgiving, and DU is part of that list.

Thanks to all of you for being here and creating a community just by virtue of humans showing up somewhere together.

Thanks for showing up for the reasons you do. DU's discussions are created (in the vast majority of situations) by the real concern people have for democracy, for the world, and for people.

Thanks for being people! I never thought I could treasure the friendships and collegiality of other people this way online, but I sure do.

Thanks to the admins and mods, and congratulations on the success of their design and ongoing vision.

We all help make each other, and the country, better and smarter. I'm thankful to have the opportunity to be part of it.

1. Nice. It's a shame this attutide exists for only a day.
DU can be a tough place if you have unpopular opinions.

2. As rough as a family,
and that isn't necessarily a compliment.

But I do find most conversations not only constructive, but very often resulting in important events out there in the real world.

Thanks for your response, Blashyrkh.

3. Yes, yes, yes
Let's give thanks for the good things in our lives and the things that we enjoy.

Let's give thanks to the DU and the people here who've made life more bearable for us all.

5. People who need people
are lucky if they have a place like DU.

People sharing their knowledge, curiosity, passion, even when I disagree with them: that's good stuff.

What happened?

8. I tried to walk the dog at dusk in California. And got acquainted with the night
and the rough edge of the uneven sidewalk.

I'm okay. If genius here had been wearing boots instead of tennis shoes, the ankle would have had some protection. Some of us are slow! :P

10. I broke my foot on a speed bump
after running the something-or-other shuttle run in the high school parking lot in gym class.

The speed bump was just past the finish; I stepped on the far side diagonally and my foot rolled to the outside in just the right way.

So, I think I qualify as equally slow, if not slower.

:)

35. Ouch! I was once attacked by Corningware in my own kitchen.
I was innocently opening the frig door and the dish leaped out and dove for my foot. Those plastic leftover dealies aren't green but they seem to be much less aggressive. lol

Happy Thanksgiving!

15. Free delivery!
But you might need to add some magazines, a comb, and a Slim Jim to make your order qualify.

So it was the right foot, eh? Tough break (no pun...okay, partially intended).

This is just my lame attempt to get out of cooking.

7. Thank you, Bleever.
I'm grateful today, and every other day I run into folks like you. And there are thousands here at DU.

You're just a little crazier than most. Which I like. A lot.

33. hi
a rather ambivalent day for me... Hubby didn't go to dialysis yesterday- he was throwing up occasionally and not able to eat... friends are have their Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, I will be bringing a home-grown green salad...

Just thankful that Hubby is out of the hospital and still alive...

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
