Poll question: High gas prices-inspired poll: How far do you have to travel for Thanksgiving?
I've got a 50+ mile trek from Detroit's northern 'burbs to my parents' place in Ann Arbor. With the price of gas, any savings from a weekend of freeloading and turkey sandwiches to take back home will be wiped right out.

Et vous?

4. I'm staying "home"
Well, my German home, not flying back to Dallas.

Of course, my younger daughter flew here from the USA to be
here with us, but the pilot assured her that he would fly the
plane here with her or without her, so her conscience was lightened
somewhat.

5. 6 blocks
All of my (large) immediate family live within 1.5 miles of my parents house, so no long distance for us!

7. No travel for Thanksgiving. Lots of miles before & after, though.
It's hunting season, so we're driving 90 miles a day round trip chasing the stupid deer. (I know. The deer aren't stupid. We are.)

9. Consider yourself fortunate
It's not a holiday here, and I have to be on the 6:25 plane down to München
tomorrow morning, and won't be home before 11 PM.

8. Bahamas, here I come!!!!!!!!!! (nt)
Don't know if I'll be having Turkey or not, but I definitely won't be buying anything on "black friday" (all expenses, including meals, were pre-paid).

10. 325 miles one way
Thank god I have a diesel. :P It'll probably be close to 750 miles total, round trip and going various places this weekend. So maybe 1-1/2 tank fuel tops. It's a little over half a tank one way, so about $60 for fuel to get there and back.

It's well worth it.

11. 3/4 mile ON Thanksgiving, 65 miles the day after
I consider us damn lucky to have family living so close nearby with whom we celebrate the actual holiday. We'll travel about 65 miles the day after, though, to visit my dad.

12. 8 blocks.
Restaurant down the street from where I live. I got a copy of Sicko and Spiderman 3 for my friend to watch when we don't have to do dishes.

13. I drove 300 miles to get home, with local prices between 2.97 and 3.05.
This is in Mississippi. I can't imagine what it would be like in places like New York City or Los Angeles.
