The Free Speech Sale
For years our politicians and pundits have been telling us how we could not have publicly financed elections or any type of campaign finance reform because to do so would be to limit free speech.

I have to wonder how much free speech costs. Is it $5,000? $10,000? Is it possible to buy free speech at a reduced cost?

Maybe some of you have the money to purchase some free speech. Make sure you get a receipt if you do, you may need to return it if it doesn't it work.

Freedom isn't free, and free speech isn't free either. Free speech requires the ability to write a really big check.

It takes a big check to have your lobbyist get some time with a candidate and exercise their free speech rights. It is not like wars for oil, Halliburton contracts, and loosening of environmental and health regulations comes cheaply. I hear if you give the candidates enough money they can hook you up with a pretty nice tax cut though.

I am sure the cost of free speech is worth it in the end. Hell our politicians will send young men and women to kill and be killed for you if you want to get a contract to buy a democracy in Iraq.

So in order keep sales of free speech going strong we need to ensure there is never publicly funded elections. Those damn socialists think we should have free speech for free. But the market needs to decide the price of free speech, because we can not allow everyone to think their free speech is worth as much money as ours.
