Hill article on McCain's response to "bitch" question ignored "excellent question" remark
http://mediamatters.org/items/200711150004?f=h_latest

Summary: In an article about a report from CNN's Out in the Open on Sen. John McCain's recent exchange with a supporter in Hilton Head, South Carolina, The Hill reported that McCain's "campaign laments that CNN portrayed the event as though McCain did not defend {Sen. Hillary} Clinton forcefully enough. The senator, in the short video clip, expressed his respect for the former first lady." But the article did not note that McCain described the question -- "How do we beat the bitch?" -- as "excellent."

1. The "excellent question" remark is what drew my attention. I could
understand being taken aback by what his supporter said and somewhat laughing out of nervousness, but once he said "excellent question", he was condoning and reinforcing what that woman said.

2. Talk about a tempest in a tea pot. I do not give a rat's ass if McCain said calling
Hillary a Bitch was good or not. What else do you expect the Radical Reich to call ANY democratic candidate? They are just manufacturing Bull Shit to make news. Turn it off.

4. McCain wimped out, pure and simple
He had to make a split-second decision. He had the chance to say, "look
you are talking about a fellow United States Senator, and I would request
that you rephrase your question." He had a second to make the decision, and he
wimped out and let it ride (and therefore stick to him). My bet is that Hillary
would have been sharp enough to answer a question about "that son-of-a-bitch McCain"
by saying that she would not entertain questions referring to fellow Senators
in that fashion---for that matter, I'd bet any of the Democratic candidates would
be sharp enough. McCain had a chance to show he could think fast. He failed.

What a surprise.
