Where is the Stephanie Miller show?
I just tuned in Sirius radio left talk for my daily dose of Stephanie and some other show is on. Please don't tell me Sirius has dropped the Miller show. Does anyone know about this?

1. Check her web site
I occasionally listen on streaming radio, on the Seattle station, and didn't hear anything about her being dropped.

14. Nothing There
There is nothing on SM's website even this (Thurs) AM.

Sirius has the new shedule posted but nothing about changes. Ed Schultz also lost an hour.

4. Sirius appears to have dropped her today.
Edited on Wed Nov-14-07 07:52 PM by onehandle
She's not on the schedule anymore.

http://www.sirius.com/siriusleft

I sent them a pointed email. I will cancel if she's gone.

http://www.sirius.com/customercare

I will be getting her "StephCast" instead.

5. I too have sent an e-mail asking if they dropped the show
it will be the last straw for me if they have. Recently, without any notice, they dropped all NHL game broadcasts. I'm in an area where I can't get hockey games on TV so it really pissed me off. They have four or five conservative channels and one lame left talk channel and now it looks like they are determined to ruin that also.
My experience with Sirius has really sucked.

7. It's the Howard effect.
I listen for a few minutes once in a while, but it's not why I got Sirius.

Howard's crowd is slowly dumbing down and destroying their programming.

Howard will leave in a few years. What will they do with no Howard and and a leftover pool of 95% braindead subscribers?

This is why I'm in favor of the merger. I'd like to pick from the best of both.

In the meantime, I think I'm done.

12. Maybe with all the money they shell out to Howard
they were looking for someplace to economize. Cutting Stephanie probably is saving them a few bucks.

13. That too.
They pay big bucks for the "Martha Stewart Channel" which nobody listens to, but they won't pay for a superstar of Liberal radio.

They suck.

10. Last straw for me too
I do some driving at night and have Sirius in my car. I was surprised tonight when there was no Stephanie on my Sirius Radio. I find Alex Bennett barely tolerable, Lynn Samuels unlistenable, and now no Stephanie, and one hour less of Ed (not my fav, but not too bad). I got the Sirius originally for Air America. Now there is really no reason for me to keep it. I am thinking about going to XM, but hate paying for another receiver since Sirius and XM will likely merge and it's hard to predict how that will affect their programming.

11. Yep. I listen to Stephanie on the way home from work.
This let my Sirius Stiletto record the rest for me to listen to the next day.

Glad I got the unit for almost free.

Fuck them.

16. Don't Waste Your Time
Sadly, this probably well-meaning fellow has only one issue: Blacks are mistreated in America. Certainly, at one time, that was the case. There are those who feel that it is still true. Many of us feel it is an issue that was won in the 1960's. No one wants to listen to FOUR hours of this every day in 2007.

We are now all in the same boat: none of us has any Constitutional rights left. King Geo and his handlers has taken OUR concept of Patriotism, generated immense amounts of fear, and conned us out of our most precious rights.

15. Continuation of Sirius anti-Left Policy
I have had the (possibly paranoid) suspicion for sometime that Sirius was actually rabidly right wing and that it's only two "liberal" channels (146 and Out-Q 109) were really designed to generate ill-will and/or hatred for the Left while making a superficial and easily spin-able effort to appear "balanced."

Think about it: Lynn Samuels rambles and swears, mostly about her own personal issues and pet peeves. In many way, Ed Schultz is more of a true conservative that a fundamental liberal. Mike Malloy is just plain raving unless he is "on his meds" which is seldom. Alex Bennett is truly a socialist. None of these people really present a compelling argument to those middle-of-the-roaders who might actually change their opinion to a progressive, liberal point of view.

Now, Sirius has replaced Stephanie, who was funny enough to attract a broad audience and articulate enough to be perceived as dangerous by the right wingnuts, has been scrapped entirely. And, what has Sirius replaced them with? A true windbag who appears to have one and only one issue. Sadly, that's an issue that was won for him in the '60's. He is now out of step with the current progressive view. He has been given not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR hours, which Sirius appears to think is both enough rope to hang himself and bore all of the rest of us into going elsewhere.

Add to this the fact that the lion's share of the advertising on both 146 and 109 is for get-rich-quick schemes (work at home pyramid schemes), legal services for the near-bankrupt (settle your past-due taxes and credit card re-negotiation schemes) and bad business advice for terminally naive entrepreneurs (protect yourself with a Nevada or Delaware corporation). What is odd about that advertising? Well, it's not aimed at anyone who thinks for themselves. Five minutes thought shows it's all bull excrement yet, if there is one common thread among those who listen to these channels, it's that we are more savvy, more current with what's going on nationally and more independent in our thinking than the "average" American. So, the advertising is almost entirely targeted at the wrong audience. So what? Well, to me, that is further "proof" that the real motivation for these channels is not making a profit from advertising but furtherance of a political agenda. In effect, they are infomercials sponsored by the neocons.

Just my thoughts.

17. Completely Agree
Out Q on Sirius is far better for Liberal Talk ... at least it is not drivil about shopping habits or new movies or screaming about "illegal aliens" whatever the f--k that means.

20. I have written to Sirius many times over the last two years to
complain about their lame ass line up on left talk. The best show they carry, the most intelligent and relevant is Thomas Hartman and they give him one hour! I believe you are right, they are purposely destroying their left talk station for political reasons. I won't give them another penny of my money.

23. Malloy
I think this message was posted by Bill Maher. Or rather, someone who took Bill M's advice and began taking Paxil. Mike Malloy is the closest thing to the truth that you can find on the Air Waves in this "Free" Country. Stephanie Miller is a fucking comedy show you douche-bag. Malloy is one serious motherfucker. If you had any balls you would call Malloy and ask him about his "meds". I guarantee you would quickly jam a Prozac tab up your butt for quick absorption and cry like the little victim that you are.

If you can't handle the truth, stay out of the fucking kitchen.

PS Lynn Samuels thinks you are a piece of shit.

22. Unfortunately we don't all live in places where we can get her on the radio
A lot of us live in places where there is no progressive terrestrial radio or where they flipped our progressive stations to a different format (e.g,, sports talk, Latino talk). So those who want to listen either have to stream on line, pay for podcasts, or listen to her on satellite radio (although now we can't do that with Sirius).
