Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 07:41 PM by CorpGovActivist
GRRRRRRRRRRRR...

... he just appeared with Chairman Ed Markey (D-MA) on Bloomberg TV.

Expect this to become a talking point in the 08 election.

Shameless.

3. His Premise (If You Can Call It That)...
... is that the Democratic Congress hasn't sent Bush an energy policy that allows for ANWR drilling and drilling on Federal lands.

*eyeroll*

5. Gee I thought keeping impeachment off the table and appeasing
shitboy on virtually everything he wants along with wooing the "center" was going to keep the Republics from saying bad things about Democrats.

That must've been in a parallel universe.

10. Ordinary people don't watch Bloomberg, and the investors who do will think Barton a fool
The only ones who'll believe his crap is Bush**'s pea-brained base, and they're such a small minority, who cares?

12. I read somewhere that oil was 27 dollars a barrel when bush stole office
and now it is the Democrats that oil has gone to 100 a barrel. How in the fu*king hell can these damn crappy ass republicans blame the Democrats. I think we should deluge the MSM with the fact that they are enabling these republicans to ruin our country.

29. I didn't really get that until Palast laid it out
We didn't go to war to steal the oil, rather to keep it in the ground to maximize profits.

13. Interesting. WHAT is causing the rise in price? We should TALK ABOUT IRAQ!!!!
IF IF IF this administration WANTED to keep oil prices down, all they would have to do is make IRAQ, the third largest potential (OR MORE) producer of oil,...PRODUCE.

Ahhhhhh,...but,...

BUT, production would cause Buxhco's oil profiteers to LOSE rather than suck every fucking penny out of not only other countries' people but also their own.

THAT WOULD BE "BAD"!

Oh. Let's avoid any conversation about the Bushies' extended family, the SAUDS!!!!

20. Oh, please. You are not going to do that to me are you?
The supply is actually exploding way beyond demand.

AW, man. And I believed you. At least I can say, it was just for a day.

22. They Are Consuming More...
... don't read more into what I wrote than what I wrote. Total global demand HAS risen significantly, which accounts for at least some of the rise.

To be clear, I think a lot of speculation and Bush-created crises account for most of it.

25. No. "They" are not consuming more. The supply is being choked.
Total global demand has NOT increased 300%, more or less, in the past five years. That is just fucking SILLYSLASHSTUPID!!!

Please, do not try to sell that fiction or I am going to get really upset.

28. I Don't Mind Having a Civil Discussion...
... based on facts.

For example, even though additional exploration is constantly underway in Norway's offshore oil fields, here's their current estimate (which they refine each time they find a new field):

Non-OPEC oil production is bumping up against depleted known fields: http://www.cfr.org/publication/14554/

The disruption of reliable exports from Iraq have also reduced supply at a critical time (and other developing nations with hard currency are stockpiling, e.g., China).

To the point of the OP, though: I think that the GOP is shameless for trying to pin the skyrocketing price of a globally-consumed commodity on the Congressional Dems. The war of choice in Iraq not only disrupted reliable oil flow from there, but also destabilized Central Asia at a time when some key new pipeline projects and exploration projects were underway.

Best,

- Dave

17. And Ed Gillespie said the GOP Congress worked with Bush to keep
the deficit down. Yeah, right, that's why it went from $5 trillion to $9 trillion during the GOP Admin and Congress.

Wolf Blitzer tried to press Gillspie on the deficit, but Gillespie was clearly in control of the conversation.
