3 repuke wedge issues failed miserably yesterday.
In KY the "scary homosexual" issue- one of the ugliest wedge issues so beloved by repukes, had little or no effect. Despite Pat Boone, and fake "gays for Beshear" phone calls, Fletcher got crushed. Sure much of that can be attributed to his own corruption, but it's clear that the "gay" issue didn't work.

In Utah, an ambitious push for school vouchers went down in flames. There was very little support for it.

In VA, immigration, which some pundits said would be a big issue, didn't stop the dems from taking the Senate.

None of this bodes well for the repukes in '08.

2. That's very encouraging
I worry about wedge issues. The GOP has used them effectively in the past. If those three have lost their power, that's very good news.

Maybe we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

Frankly, I won't breathe easier until there's a DEMOCRAT in the Oval Office, and I don't mean a passing visitor, either. And probably even then, I won't breathe completely easier.

Never forget what "Mad-Eye Moody" warned Harry Potter and the rest of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!" Even when it looks like we're winning, or that we've won, we cannot afford to drop our guard for an instant. Look what happened after we thought we'd scored a great victory with Roe v Wade, and finally got rid of Nixon. Many of us thought the matter was simply settled and the problem was solved and things really were on the way up. And look what happened. Many of ours went rolled over and went back to sleep, thinking the situation was handled. Meantime, the bad guys weren't sleeping at all. They were just getting warmed up. And if we doze off again, they'll be back - worse than EVER.

Complacency is an express ride to doom. OUR doom. The bad guys will never give up. Therefore, NEITHER SHOULD WE!!!

3. Good bird's eye view of this caper, cali.
And a very encouraging trend for the country.

The less clout Republicans have on these sorts of wedge issues, the better off we'll all be.
