I'm a tad bit disappointed
Bush awarded Harper Lee The Medal of Freedom yesterday, she rarely makes public appearances. She did show up for the medal. I can say with 100% certainty that if he wanted to see me I would not show up. I may be a little selfish but she was always a sort of hero to me as writers go. Thoughts?

1. I kind of know how you feel.
Bobby Watson played at Lincoln Center and had his picture taken with Bush** and he was smiling. Now I do not think that Bobby is a big Bush** fan, I don't know that but am just guessing from past conversations with him. My sons know him better than I do. Still he is something of an icon for those of us in music.

I would never ever ever even allow myself to be that close to Bush**.

2. presidential medal of freedom has been given for years and years
and it's not about who is president it's about the accomplishments of the person who receives the award.

3. My daughter earned a "President's Education Award"
back in June when she was graduating from 8th grade. It has the chimp's signature on it. I asked her what she wanted to do with it, and she told me she didn't care about it and I could do anything I wanted to with it. Normally, I'd be more than happy to frame my daughter's academic honor and hang it proudly....but the chimp's pawprint devalues it to such an extent that I put it away in a drawer where its collecting dust.

I, too, would never show up to accept anything from the criminal. Anything he's associated with, IMO, taints the prize.
