TIME: The 'Stampede Away from Touch-Screen'

TIME: The 'Stampede Away from Touch-Screen'
Magazine Says Nelson-Whitehouse Senate Bill Calling for 2012 Ban on Dangerous DRE Voting Systems a 'Stunning Reversal'

Uses Our Own 'Ford Pinto' Metaphor in Article Spurring One Writer to Proclaim to BRAD BLOG: 'DREs Are Now Junk in Mainstream Publications Such as Time!'

Sure, the reporter at TIME magazine gets much of the terminology wrong (hey, he works for TIME, he doesn't have the kind of resources we do here at The BRAD BLOG to get things right when we report them, so we'll cut him some slack), but as a national writer friend of ours commented in a late-night email last night, "DREs are now junk, officially, in mainstream publications such as Time.com"

Well, it's about damned time...

1. They should NEVER have gotten as pervasive as they have.
The very first person who saw it should have shuddered and said "That's NOT a good idea..Go Away with that contraption."

It's going to take years to weed them out of use.

2. I don't understand why they don't ban them immediately
and have the states that have DREs in place, replace them before 2010. K&R...

Probably the most important election in the history of America.

6. exactly
Every one of those machines can be replaced by paper ballots tomorrow! and it wouldn't be too soon in my opinion. We need to have integrity in our voting, or we have nothing.

4. Just as we train people to distinguish between paper 'trails' and paper BALLOTS--
--so must we train them to distinguish between touchscreens which record votes directly (DREs), and those which can be used to assist people with disabilities or languages other than English to mark a paper BALLOT which can then be scanned or hand-counted (preferably both).

9. Common sense and truth will prevail, A conspiracy theory
usually attributes the ultimate cause of an event or chain of events (usually political, social, pop cultural or historical events), or the concealment of such causes from public knowledge, to a secret, and often deceptive plot by a covert alliance of powerful or influential people or organizations. Many conspiracy theories imply that major events in history have been dominated by conspirators who manipulate political happenings from behind the scenes.

The elections happen over and over again, you can fool people a few times, but sooner or later even the people allowing themselves to be fooled are going to say just prove it to these conspiracy theorist, and we know that THE CROOKS CAN NOT AND WILL NOT be able to do that.

Thats where the CROOKS GET BUSTED!! They can only use "CONSPIRACY THEORY" for so long before the sheeple
D & R demand that they PROVE IT.

My two cents... :)
