Why the low approval ratings of Congress mean spit for next year's elections
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 10:33 AM by cali
If you're pointing to the low approval ratings for Congress as a sign that Dems are in trouble going into next year's elections, don't bother.

Congress in never very popular, but one thing is true: most folks hate other people's reps, and are satisfied with their own. In addition, republicans in Congress have lower rating than dems.

So it's far easier to use the approval of the president as an accurate barometer of how the electorate feels, than the Congress. The president is one person, the Congress 535.

1. The republicans are doing a better job of framing and re-defining
(spinning and lying) about what is going on in Congress. I hope America sees that the margin of power in Congress is so narrow that they really are stymied at every turn by the neo-cons who are intent on pushing forth their agenda despite what the American people want as they destroy our Constitution and raid our Treasury.

2. evidently the repukes aren't (at least currently) doing a better job
of framing, as their approval ratings are even worse than the dems.
