Elmer's (glue) vows review of safety after reports of high lead levels
Elmer's vows review of safety after reports of high lead levels

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Glue maker Elmer's Products Inc. has pledged to investigate its safety standards following findings by Consumer Reports magazine of high lead levels in several kinds of children's glue sticks.

In a statement released Monday, Elmer's said the company was aware of the report in the December issue of Consumer Reports and has initiated a "rigorous review" of the findings.

Consumer Reports tested children's products to measure total lead levels - the amount of lead on a toy's surface as well as the amount embedded in the toy. Surface lead is a larger concern as children are exposed to the lead by touching toys or placing them in their mouths.

Products with high levels of total lead included orange caps from seven Elmer's Glue Sticks with designs from "Dora the Explorer," "Go, Diego, Go!" and "SpongeBob SquarePants," the report said.

7. weight and cost
mix lead with many products and one can reduce the amount of other more expensive materials and adds weight. since lead is cheaper than dirt in certain countries, their manufacturers use it to cut costs for the world market.

3. Bet Laura's regretting telling her husband that the Elmer's glue sticks
were popsicles.

It might be a little too late, though.

5. This follows "our" consumer safety chief requiring LESS funds, LESS staff
It's f**king unbelievable, but this sorry human being was critical of "a provision to ban lead from toys."

Read it for yourself and weep.

Fascism sucks. And we're going to learn how hard and deep it sucks...

8. Someone else already did
And that's what brought it to my attention.

But there are so many crimes and so little time...
