I'm fascinated by politicos who one day seem to have the world in their pocket, and the next, become one hit wonders.

Obama's hubris will be the end of him just like John and Joe.

1. Who are McCain and Liebermann?
Are they Communists?

2. I don't think Obama's quite so "done." He may not win the nomination this year,
but he's still young and has a good career ahead of him, even if only as a Senator. Illinois will keep re-electing him as long as he likes.

21. If Obama goes nutty negative tonight, he can kiss the VP spot goodbye.
He showed promise back in '04. That was a nice speech he made at the convention.

3. Obama has stepped into a political bear trap.
Doesn't matter how clean he gets out, he's crippled from now on.

What he was is no longer relevant. His political naivete and that of his advisors has killed his current ambitions, possibly permanently.

5. I read the other day that one of his "money men" defected back to the Hillary camp
You almost have to wonder if he had some former Clinton advisors on his staff?

4. I disagree
He did a politically unwise thing this week, but it's not the end of the world for him. I think he has a long, distinguished future ahead of him.

He's pretty new to this, but he's smart and he'll learn how not to do it again.

6. Yeah, people will forgive and forget, but not in 2 and a half months.
I think his White House bid for 2008 is over. But, he will be around for awhile to come.

8. I agree
This hurts him in the primaries this year, but it won't have any long-term effect beyond that.

11. TWO posts since 2002? Welcome back to DU, but Obama will be poison as a running mate
If he can't handle this debacle, how could he handle the right wing smear machine during a campaign?

16. Sad but true. Google up Mr. Rezko and you'll be way ahead of the MSM's
future plan to tear Obama UP. He made some boo-boos in Chicago and they will come out. By the time the media's finished w/ hm.. he'll be toast.

19. He's running neck & neck with Hillary here on Democratic Underground!
Of course, views here are hardly representative of the larger Democratic community. The leading candidates in our straw vote poll are second and third tier in the larger world:
