The march:


















About halfway through the march, the crowd was getting tired (it was a long route) and hadn't chanted for a block or so. I was at the front of the march and watched this 'rocket scientist - NOT!' stand on his balcony in downtown Chicago and scream "TRAITORS! Get off my street!!" LOL The marchers (30,000 strong) erupted!! I was walking by a cop and he looked up and then heard the marchers and shook his head and laughed.




It wouldn't be a peace march without cops ready to spring into action!






And yes, there were freepers. 24 of them. They were waiting for us when we arrived at Federal Plaza for the rally after the march.




The cops stood right in front of the freepers. So they couldn't come across the street and mingle with us.




This was my favorite sign all day. I loved it because this guy stood for a good hour right in front of the freepers holding this sign up. No way could they have missed it.

I will never forget my experience in San Francisco marching with hundreds of thousands of anti-war folks on a gorgeous day! One of the best days of my life! It is a long trip for me to get to any of the rally cities, but I was able to get there once.

I'm so glad livvy and I finally found you! I really didn't take any pictures this time. After a while, every march starts to look the same.

The first photo is great -- I didn't see that one. The words on the sign sound like they could be used for a new version of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire."

I have to admit, I didn't think it was a big (enough) rally. I was disappointed in the "crowd". I am sad that we didn't have hundreds of thousands there. That doesn't mean I won't still get my body down there to be counted but there should be more, many more.

Thanks for posting your pictures - I put new batteries in my camera before I left home and it still would not work when we got there, so I didn't get to take any. I did see many of those people in your photos. In your picture of IVAW, the one in the middle is my friend, Derek, who was one of the speakers.

It was a great day, but I do wish there had been more people out there with us. Oh, and I saw the guy on the balcony but couldn't hear what he was yelling. Get off my street? Pretty funny...
