I rec'd the DNC survey yesterday - anyone else? No questions on paper receipts for votes,
nothing on possible public financing of campaigns to stop every organization on the planet from buying votes. You can see what's important to them, not us.

When asked if I'd contribute, answer was loud NO, put notes nothing until Dems stand up to * and repukes regardless of whether they have the votes or threatened veto, and nothing until they protect OUR votes with paper receipts that can be lawfully counted when necessary.

1. These little mail ditties have two purposes:
1. Solicit money.

2. Give you the illusion you have some sort of input regarding policy priorities. You don't.

Good on you for choosing not to play.

2. I did the same.
On the first question where they ask you to rate all the issues from most to least important, I only checked "Other" and wrote "Dems capitulating to conservative agenda—all other issues irrelevant until Democrats in Congress start acting like a true opposition party."

To the question that asked if I wanted to make a contribution I wrote "Are you #$*# kidding me?" Below that I wrote, "Stop sending me these surveys as if you actually give a shit about my opinion. It's patently obvious that progressives have no representation in Washington, D.C."

I'm sure it won't do any good, but it sure was therapeutic!

7. DNC isn't allowed to influence Dems in Congress
Congressional leaders who are controlled by the DLC have built a firewall between the DNC and Congress.

Howard Dean is NOT allowed to influence anything they do, yet an outside lobbying group is. Go figure.

If you're unhappy with Congressional Dems performance, the best thing you can do is prevent further takeover of the Dem caucus by supporting the DNC.

3. They have the same old same old questions
and like the other posters says, they take the money and throw the survey in the trash.

I wrote a nice long letter. Told them they sure as hell wasn't getting a penny more from me. And that I was sick and tired of the same old questions asked on a survey, and then no body in DC pays any attention to them. Since it had a prepaid stamp I didn't even have to pay for it. I put great big
X's all over the place where you checked the answers.

4. I got it a few days ago. The main point of the whole thing is money. Not
really what I believe (or you for that matter)the democratic party should do, stand for, but money.

Question #14. To help make progress on issues like those discussed in this survey, will you join the Democratic National Committee as a contributing member?

Choices: Yes, go to the next question. NO

Question #15 (with a nice box outlining the question). If you answered "Yes" to question 14, please indicate the membership level at which you will join the DNC today.

Choices: $35 $50* $75 $100 Other $_____
*Please consider a gift of this amount or greater. Thank you for your support.

_______________________________________________________________________

So what's in it for the guy who doesn't have $50? Why is there different membership levels? What do you get for contributing the max that you don't get for contributing $5 if that's all you have?

6. $35 is pretty reasonable
It would cost them more than $5 to process a donation of that amount.

With Howard Dean in charge of DNC, I rest easy knowing that even those who can't afford a donation are just as important as those who can.

I've already signed up for a $200 donation and will continue to give a similar amount each month.

5. Got a link?
I'll support the DNC any day over the special interest lobbying group called DLC.

I trust Howard Dean. Will Marshall, Rahm Emanuel, Steny Hoyer, etc. at DLC. Not so much.
