Has Blackwater deployed to California yet?
Bet you they will if they aren't there already.

3. One of the fires started exactly in the town of Potrero, the area Blackwater is trying to buy.
I know there are fires everywhere, but this one smells stinky. The town revolted when its city council considered letting Blackwater in, and fired the entire city council. now they are all losing their homes. We're talking about a Small town of 200 families, I think.

8. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it turned out that someone associated with Blackwater
"accidentally" knocked over a barbecue in the area at 3 a.m. Sunday morning. I wouldn't put it past those Blackwater types.

4. Hey, Thugs ...
stay out of my beloved state!

Oh, that's right, they are trying to take over Potrero - I was in a protest against them not too long ago!

Facists!

5. No. Most counties in CA have sent crews, CDF (CA Forestry Dept fire crews),

other crews from neighboring states, and I understand the CA State National Guard has been called up, as well.

(aside) My little county sent 200 firefighters.

Blackwater style operations have no place in this situation - if they have any in any situation.

Crews are stretched thin, obviously. We'll see what happens in the next 24 - 48 hours. Winds are supposed to settle come Wednesday or Thursday.

6. They wouldn't be deployed to fight fires....
....just like they weren't deployed to help the flood victims of New Orleans.

7. If you are implying some kind of martial law scenario (?), you're off base, imho. These fires

spread up and down the So Cal chaparral between the sea, the canyons and the interior ranges. I can understand your skepticism, in light of Katrina, yet this is an annually rehearsed scenario in So Cal. Fires here, as you know, are an annual occurrence - sometimes minor, sometimes devastating - as in 2003.

There are mutual aid pacts among all fire fighting agencies in the state, and our Western neighbors. In a case like this it includes the CA National Guard.
