Craig to Appeal Judge’s Refusal to Let Him Withdraw Guilty Plea
BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 14 (AP) — Senator Larry E. Craig says he will file an appeal on Monday over a judge’s refusal to allow him to withdraw the guilty plea stemming from his arrest in an airport bathroom sex sting.

In an interview on Sunday with KTVB-TV, Mr. Craig repeated his assertion that he would not resign his post in the Senate and said he would continue to work his legal options.

“It is my right to do what I’m doing,” said the senator, an Idaho Republican. “I’ve already provided for Idaho certainty that Idaho needed — I’m not running for re-election. I’m no longer in the way. I am pursuing my constitutional rights.”

In a separate interview, Mr. Craig’s wife, Suzanne, said the senator did not tell her about the arrest until it was about to become public. “I felt like the floor was falling out from under me,” she told Matt Lauer of NBC in an interview to be broadcast later this week. “And I felt like almost, like I was going down a drain for a few moments.”

IMO, the appeal will be denied. Craig, at least on the law and facts set out in his mx, had -0- grounds to set aside his plea.

And....interesting that he did not tell his wife about this. The reasons why he was silent to her seem pretty obvious.

2. Oooooooh, good idea on the timing!
That should make the homophobic party of "family values" look good.

I love the deal about not wanting to embarrass his wife as the reason for not telling her. How in the hell would she be embarrassed if they had a private conversation about this? GMAFB!

4. Pathetic.
On one hand, I think it is a good thing, because it damages the republican party. On the other hand, it really is tragic in the sense that any human being has to lie -- to their family, friends, and self -- about who they are.

5. Hi, H20....! Always great to get a reply from you.
Sad that Larry Craig cannot be who he is and be honest with everyone about this. And appealing this is soooooo stupid and a total waste of time. BTW, I read an article written by a gay reporter and he really pointed out how full of BS Craig's story is: Craig supposedly by accident just did all the signals that men use in a public bathroom when they are looking for sex.

And I do agree....for Craig to keep it up....it keeps the story in play and this cannot help the Repugs.

9. Pssst, hey listen pal, he gave an exclusive 72 minute interview to a reporter of KTVB yesterday.

And Craig told that reporter just how disgusted he is that none of us Democrats "get it".
Craig was simply testing the homeland defense department's security system's ability to defend our public restrooms in airports all across this great nation of ours.
Craig was inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame for his restroom efforts.

That's why he was using a wide stance, he was measuring the width of our restrooms in airports to see if terrorists could wipe their asses in thinner restroom stalls.
Who knows, maybe they have been assembling their AK-47's in those wide stalls, too.
Craig's report, due out later this month, will go into the specifics of why all of our nation's public restrooms must be rebuilt, and must not be wider than 27.5".
Craig has suggested in private that Halliburton should be given a no-bid contract to undertake this humongous task.
They have a lot of experience at building shithouse stalls, evidently.

Craig's tv interview will be televised on Tuesday night at 6 PM Mountain time.
Be sure to call the kids as I'm sure our new Hall of Famer Senator will want to say something of interest to everyone.

LoL

12. Well, of course, because all of those YouTube clips have to come from the telly.
And don't even try to tell me you haven't watched any YouTube clips lately either.

We're already working on a Chris Crocker parody of his infamous "Leave Britney Alone" YouTube video clip for our new Hall of Famer Senator Larry Craig.

LoL

13. My sons showed me
a lot of good boxing film on youtube. Probably not likely to run into many republicans like Craig there.

I've seen some pretty funny clips on the senator on shows like Countdown. But there is nothing that can do more damage than an actual "highlight" of his press conference. His republican pals must so pleased to have him sticking in the news.

10. I'm sorry, but I can't help but to respond to all of those who would defend Craig,
His 72 minute interview that will be aired on Tuesday night is going to provide more laughs than a Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in reunion.
