drought & water complications in Israel

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

The water level of the Dead Sea fell a further 15 centimeters in September, the same amount as in August. The water level has fallen one meter over the year, resulting in a shrinking surface area and the appearance of sinkholes along the shoreline. These sinkholes endanger both lives and infrastructures. The Dead Sea is falling because of the shutting of the dam on the Jordan River at Degania, the diversion of water from the Yarmuch River, and pumping of water from the Jordan River, which blocks the flow of water from Kinneret to the Dead Sea. )

doesn't sound good

Israel can get on the list with Atlanta

the list of places in the world that are VERY worried about having enough drinking water

1. It's going to be a really long list.
And we still think "terrorism" is the world's biggest problem.

2. They are talking about a pipeline from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea by 2020

This fascinates me from an engineering standpoint.

Desalinated water and hydro power for Jordan and an influx of salt water to to refill the Dead Sea for Israel.

Win-win for everybody.
