Wal Mart blaming warm weather for poor sept sales BUT THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 05:39 PM by greenbriar
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Thursday reported September sales at U.S. stores open at least a year toward the low end of its outlook, but the world's largest retailer raised its quarterly earnings estimate, citing lower expenses.

Investors expected weak September sales as unseasonably warm weather crimped demand for cold-weather items and consumers continued to battle high food and fuel costs as well as a deteriorating housing market.

HAHA

1. Weather and Climate are not the same things.
I was reading one of my snowboard mags yesterday, and they lamented last year's poor season for Tahoe. But it didn't even rank on the list of warmest, snow-free winters. Those were back in the 70's and 50's, I believe. We broke a record for warmth here in New England last week...one that has held since about 1963.

My point is, shit happens, the weather changes. Just because we encounter a warm spell does NOT automatically mean "Global warming."

I'm not a GW denier, but I am a realist. Check your almanac for the temperature records. Some go way, way back. Some are current. How do we know which hot spells are "global warming" and which are just hot spells?

3. Wrong-O, walmartians..
People are B R O K E .. The "middles" who shopped with y'all on "equity money" are S.O.L. these days, and eventually those plastic cards DO reach a max.:)

If I had the abilities of Karnak, the magnificent, I would tap the envelope on my forehead and predict that this is going to be a gloomy Christmas for the citizens of Walmartistan. Between the poison toys, (now with extra added lead-iness), and the worries about losing the house and or car, Mom & dad may just opt for dinner at Grandma's & some new jammies this Christmas:)(

5. I've seen poor retail sales..
... numbers blamed on bad weather, cold weather but never warm weather.

Seems like the weather has to be "just so" for people to buy stuff :sarcasm:
