A heavy storm with winds up to 110 kilometres an hour left 200 people injured as it hit the vacation island of Mallorca on Thursday, uprooting hundreds of trees and pulling up roofs. The island's Palma de Mallorca saw traffic chaos as 15 litres of rain water poured down per square metre in just 10 minutes and wind destroyed traffic signals and billboards. The island's airport was closed for around 30 minutes as the storm damaged a portion of the building's roof. A hospital was evacuated after heavy rain left part of the building under water.
