Is war simply socialized militarism?
I got to thinking when the talking heads were shrieking about socialized medicine this week -- the extortion of tax dollars to pay for health care for all.

Isn't that what war is? Socialized national defense? The extortion of tax dollars to pay for national defense of all?

Am I wrong? If I'm right, then why do conservatives support it but decry other socialized expenditures?

1. It wouldn't even be bad if that's ALL it was...
But war, as practiced by the U.S. today, is about military intervention for the profits of a few. And that ain't socialized ANYTHING.

2. Taxpayers pay more % of their money for the Dept. of War
than anything else. In a way it is Socialized & subsidized. Natl. Health Care isn't important because poor people would get what they don't really deserve because most of them are lazy. Isn't that what Repugs & their Glorious Leader think?

3. It's becoming taxation without representation...
Our taxes should benefit the people, not no-bid corporate contractors and such.

War is a scam...particularly the way THESE people play it.

4. you're right
we used to call it "socialism for the rich." the reasoning was that defense contractors are a small, protected oligopoly.

there's plenty of socialism in the united states, if youre rich.
