Tweety wiped the floor with Laura Ingraham
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 06:52 PM by dancingme
Ingraham was on and denied that Greenspan said the Iraq war was about oil. She repeated "he didn't say that Chris, read the book". Tweety got mad and said he did read the book and Greenspan said the Iraq war was about oil. He said he would show her the section and she repeated that he was wrong and that he obviously didn't read the book.

After Ingraham again repeated her talking point that the media is distorting Greenspan's words, Tweety had his staff put up the quote from Greenspan's book: "the Iraq War was largely about oil." Then Ingraham said "but Chris he has clarified his coments" and mumbled that Greenspan gave an interview today or something. Tweety wasn't having it, reminded her that she just said he didn't say that in the book. Then Ingraham tried to change the subject and mumbled "we all know you think the Iraq War is lost, we all know where you stand on the Iraq war." Tweety dismissed her after that. She was left mumbling.

1. That was cool that he actually called her out...
and read it right in front of her. I have been boycotting him, but I turned it on to hear Schuster's report on the press conference, then when I saw that lying beeotch was going to be on, I wanted to see what bullshit she was peddling today. A book I see.

3. she is so used to never being challenged by her audience
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 07:06 PM by dancingme
of nuts and dittoheads that she actually thought she could lie and nobody would be swift enough to show her the actual quote during her segment. It shows her contempt for the audience and the people who work in cable TV.

4. Hate to disagree with you, but....
I read it clearly right here on DU earlier today that he's all but in love with her and gives her a green light to spew any right wing crap she likes because he's a stooge of the Right himself.

8. he stood up to her and made sure she was called on the lie
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 07:19 PM by dancingme
and he looked pissed when she accused him of not reading the book. I was glad that he put the graphic of Greenspan's quote on the screen and then didn't let her get away with saying that Greenspan has said something different today than what was in the book. He reminded her they were just talking about the book and Ingraham said that Greenspan didn't say in the book that the Iraq war was about oil.

15. yes I did
she can't handle anyone challenging her. Ingraham is so used to her little universe where everyone who works for her radio show worships her.

19. It's interesting.....
When Coulter was challenged by Elizabeth Edwards she shed a tear too, which you can see if you watch the video closely.

None of the Right-wing talk-bullies would be able to last if they had real challengers to argue with them.

9. he loves her. he really does...or at least she's able to make him
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 07:30 PM by Gabi Hayes
raise the table, unlike I'll bet he's able to do with the wifey wife

he let her get away with murder, mostly, even while obliquely calling her on her blatant lies. he let her treat him with utter disdain, as well

contrast that with the way he nailed Michelle Malkin to the wall over Swiftboaters for Truth a few years ago. Ingraham's behavior today was easily as reprehensible, but he let it go.

he wants in, you know where, very badly

she was on a few days ago, pushing her book (for which she CONDEMNED Greenspan roundly), and Matthews called it GREAT!

I could go on and on about that egregious performance, but, instead I'll leave you with this, from Rittenhouse Review

....."Her one desire in life was to leave her law firm and get herself on television as a political pundit, despite the fact that she was the only person I knew who didn't appear to own a book or regularly read a newspaper," writes Brock. (Op. Cit., p. 233.)

............

Ingraham’s own life, if held up to “moral scrutiny and ridicule,” would not likely to pass muster with the crowd within which she so happily has entangled herself. We'll hold our tongue with respect to the notorious "garden house incident," inflicted upon a married Post-man, and Ingraham's uncanny ability to "work" the highest levels of the administration of a certain Ivy League institution.

Regardless, Ingraham's inclination to either read or write with any seriousness is slight, suggestions by Brock that are evident in her work. But since she's a woman, is cute and blond, "talks tough," and is a conservative, she gets a pass.

Funny how affirmative action, even in its sublest forms, can work to the advantage of even the stupidest of privileged white women.

so there's no accounting for taste.

10. Ah, the rightwing two-step
Just like O'Reilly and Hannity. When confronted with the facts, right there in print, no less, the conservatives do the crabwalk. They scrabble around on their claws, trying to cover their tracks. I heard an interview with William Gibson and he was saying how wonderful it is now that technology allows us to make our politicians accountable. Rumsfeld can tell Tim Russert, "I never said that". And Russert an quickly show Rumsfeld the video where he is proving himself a liar.
Same for O'Reilly, Hannity, and Ingraham. When will they learn?
Stewart shows Bush lying almost every night on his show...his video clips of Bush flipping and flopping are devastating.
Laura needs to take note.

17. There are times I think Tweety is lame
But he has recently been standing up against a lot of these idiots. I really think seeing the success of Olbermann is waking Tweety up to the fact that if he gets more aggressive and holds these thugs accountable that his numbers will go up also.

25. Talk about shifty eyes!
When she was listening to Tweety, she looked steadily at the camera. But when she was speaking, her eyes CONTINUALLY shifted to her left. I've read that's an indication of lying. I've never seen anyone shift their eyes so often over such a long period of time.

27. How sad that in today's punditocracy...
...an incredibly simple fact-check, for which Tweety's staff was barely prepared, can be hailed as a triumph.
