Lord Have Mercy: Will The Dems Ever Get It?: The Dems Who Voted Against Move-On
Well go ahead and hand the Republicons another pr victory. A lot of you have been voting with them for a long time now. Bet you haven't noticed they never vote with the dems, with the exception of a few. But hey, what's important here anyway, an ad that speaks the truth or a lie of a war. Going by your votes, I'd say the war lie and the deaths that are the result of it wins hands down over the truth.

Baucus (D-MT)

2. We've noticed. We've suggested targeting THEM
instead of the Dems who are already on our side. We've suggested creating grassroots movements in their districts, to help change the minds of their constituents. We've suggested all sorts of things to move these people, but the netroots is stuck on berating Dems who already vote the way we want them to.

3. The ad didn't "speak the truth"--just because YOU think it's true does not
make it true for everybody--that's three-year-old thinking. It's a shame that the Boxer amendment didn't pass, but I don't fault them for not supporting the ad.

21. I Think Lakoff Makes Good Points In Defense Of The Ad
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 01:26 PM by Me.
“The ad worked brilliantly to reveal, via its framing, an essential but previously hidden truth: the Bush Administration and its active supporters have betrayed the trust of the troops and the American people.

MoveOn hit a nerve. In the face of truth, the right-wing has been forced to change the subject -- away from the administration's betrayal of trust and the escalating tragedy of the occupation to of all things, an ad! To take the focus off maiming and death and the breaking of our military, they talk about etiquette. The truth has reduced them to whining: MoveOn was impolite. Rather than face the truth, they use character assassination against an organization whose three million members stand for the highest patriotic principles of this country, the first of which is a commitment to truth.”

As for the name Betrayeus, I believe that didn’t come from Move-On originally but from the troops.

The truth is, there is no "for everybody", that is simply a justification for
a lack of intellect and tolerance.

18. Webb is my Senator and I'm not disappointed in him..
if this is the worst he does, I'm fine with it. A "No" vote wouldn't have played well here in Virginia. The repukes in this state would have jumped all over him and beat him with it like a club. He's doing some very good things, I'm fine with what he's done so far.

6. Many of the usual suspects:
the Nelson twins, Lincoln, Feinstein, the worthless Salazar, Landrieu...most are DLC but a few of these are a bit of a surprise. Oh well. I can't believe they made this an issue. I know it is great PR for MoveOn, but I can't believe some of those who condemned this. The ad wasn't out of line. They asked a question. They did not call Petraeus names, but asked a question about his motives. But this is all the Cons can talk about and now they got the Dems to blink, again.

9. It took the Willie Horton ad, but they got it clearly when BUSH I got elected
in the midst of the Iran-Contra scandal. If you were a Dem senator in a red state that voted 65% Bush in 2004, how would you like to face "betrayed the troops" ads in the next election?

Can we MOVE ON? Seriously, can we?

The Dems are trying sooo hard to piss off and piss on their base that I suspect they want most all of us to vote Libertarian or Green in 08.

19. Oh please.
Sorry that Senator Leahy voted for this, but it hardly outweighs all his good votes, not to mention the heavy lifting he's done on a myriad of major issues from Habeas to criminalizing War profiteering and restricting the use of cluster bombs, the work he's done on landmines and civil liberty issues, and on and on.

I sent off a civil email telling him I was disappointed, but I still love the guy and appreciate what he does.

20. They vote. So, do I.
Something they should be reminded of more often.

I noticed that Patty Murray voted "Nay". I also noticed that my other senator, Cantwell, ducked the vote. Which is an improvement for dear Maria who usually votes in the opposite direction as Murray. Which cost her my vote in 2006.

22. At last the horrendous threat to our way of life posed by MoveOn has been contained!
Once again America's patriots are free to protect us from truth without facing schoolyard taunts. Truly this was a contest of giants. Now maybe we can get them to look into this other lesser problem of two and half branches of our government actively undermining the Bill of Rights.

30. Don't Bother They're Here
'Isn't it rich,
Aren't we a pair
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air
Send in the clowns
Isn't it bliss,
Don't you approve
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns

Just when I stopped opening doors
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines - no one is there

Don't you love farce,
My fault I fear
I thought that you'd want what I want,
Sorry my dear
But where are the clowns
There ought to be clowns
Quick send in the clowns

What a surprise,
Who could foresee?
I've come to feel about you what you felt about me
Why only now when I see that you've drifted away
What a surprise, what a cliché

Isn't it rich, isn't it queer
Losing my timing this late in my career
And where are the clowns
Quick send in the clowns
Don't bother they're here.'
