Dean in CA today fighting the electoral tricks going on. Video clips.
Howard Dean on Dirty Tricks: "Another Way to Undermine Honest Government"

DNC CHair Howard Dean knows exactly what's up with the so-called "Presidential Electoral Reform Act", it's just one more way to keep GOP in office by gaming the system. It's just one more dirty trick from the gang of villains that brought you Abu Ghraib, the Katrina botched handling, and the rise of the Taliban in Afganistan. They are both corrupt to the core and unfit to lead. More Video over the flip.

Three video clips.

More here:

Dean says CA electoral initiative is "just another Republican attempt to rig an election."

"This is not reform," Howard Dean, head of the Democratic National Committee, charged in a conference call with California reporters. "It's just another Republican attempt to rig an election. "This is partisan, it's wrong and the Democratic Party will not stand for a repeat of 2000," where Bush was elected president after a partisan battle in Florida that extended more than a month past election day, Dean said. "We will fight this with every tool we have available."

1. AS always, thank you Howard Dean head of the DNC & the Democratic party!
So happy Dean is still head of the DNC - and THE DLC assholes like Carville & Emanuel haven't been able to use their power grab to control the DNC and run Dean out, but they are still trying.

CHEERS TO HOWARD DEAN!

6. Actually ...
what the GOP is proposing in CA would lead to a more representative electoral tally ... but only if applied nationally. I would caution both the Democrats and the GOP to be careful what they wish for, and for most of DU to learn how to think critically and not just react the way you are programmed to do.

And I doubt I want to do so. No one has programmed me. I am NOT programmable.

I consider what you said was an insult, not just to me but to many people here.

Your comment:
"I would caution both the Democrats and the GOP to be careful what they wish for, and for most of DU to learn how to think critically and not just react the way you are programmed to do"

You are repeating what Dean has said on the issue anyway...do it nationwide.. not like CA is trying to do.

I believe this has happened a couple of times where comments like this have been made to me. .

I am NOT a robot, and I don't accept programming. I don't handle insults without speaking out either.

8. It doesn't take critical thinking
to see a republican attempt to rip off another election seeings how they show no interest in changing the electoral votes from Texas, Florida, or Ohio;

when that happens nationwide, I'll not have a problem.

I'm just glad Dr. Dean is dealing with it now. My party needs many more leaders like him.

10. Thanks. Agreed.
In the video I posted below, Dean jokes that they should do a big red state like TX also.

14. But it's not being proposed nationally, is it. How about we start by making the SENATE
more "representative" electorally- by ending the inanity which gives 33 Million Californians the same say as 400,000 Wyoming Residents, for instance. Let's say- if we're really interested in making things more "fair"- we start with that.

THEN we can talk about divvying up electoral votes... on a national basis.

16. "but only if applied nationally"
Right, but they are not trying for that. They are trying to skim off R's in CA. If they wanted real Electoral College reform, they *would* have proposed something national. Look at what they *did* do. I'm not programmed--I just look at what's going on and try real hard to think for myself.

""This isn't about good government or reform. It's just about plain old partisan politics," said Howard Dean, Democratic Party Chairman.

Dean joined local Democratic leaders to condemn the proposed ballot measure.

"We all want reform, but if you reform one state at a time and you start with a Democratic state -- look, if they were doing Texas and Florida at the same time, we wouldn't be having this press conference," said Dean. Dean told reporters if it's good for California, it ought to be good for a red state like Texas.

But when I asked the spokesman for "Californians for Equal Representation" if he would endorse a similar ballot measure for Texas, he said he wouldn't

"No. Texas can do whatever Texas wants to do," said Eckery.

But in the spirit of fairness, wouldn't it be more fair to change the system for both a big red and a big blue state, I asked.

...."It almost feels like a loser's mentality, saying you know that I cannot win with those rules. So let me change the rules," said Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger."

11. The GOP has a long way to go..
before they can convince me that they have a shred of honesty or integrity left after their disgusting Bush support! They are already making up caging lists of African Americans whose names may disqualify them because they are similar to another of their number who may be an ex-felon.

12. It is a sad state of affairs and proof that Dean's voice fears many in that the only
time I hear his name and what he is doing on Du. I would love to meet that man, we do have good people, I guess just not enough at the present time, we need more like him and the others who are doing thier best.
