RON FOURNIER Strikes AGAIN: Latest AP Hit Piece on John Edwards: Is Edwards real or a phony?
I really am starting to HATE the AP - once respected for printing NEWS...

Analysis: Is Edwards real or a phony?

By RON FOURNIER, Associated Press Writer 52 minutes ago

NASHUA, N.H. - John Edwards' presidential campaign is not so much about the "two Americas" as it is about the two John Edwardses.

One image of Edwards is that he's a champion of the embattled middle class and poor, an up-from-his-bootstraps populist waging war against special interests who favor the rich and established.

The other take: He's a phony.

(cut)

His rivals (and AP writer RON FOURNIER) are working behind the scenes to exploit the "three Hs" haircut, house and hedge fund.

1. He can't be rich and campaign to help the poor and middle class?
People like Fournier always classify others in boxes and then never see them outside that box.

2. IF the poor and middle class aren't rich enough to run for office, who represents their interest?
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 11:05 AM by rudy23
Every rich person could be called a hypocrite and a phony for going against their own class's best interests.

Unless they just don't want the poor and middle class to be represented at all...

8. And deepening this problem
is the fact that so many newspapers that might not have a jaundiced stance take this as straight news and run it because AP is the only wire service they can afford.

You can't spell crap without AP.

9. There is an overarching fear going on here.
For those who espouse and support Conservatism especially economic
conservatism----John Edwards represents everything they despise.

In the GOP mind economic conservatism is on trial.

Using every tool (including the Ron Fourniers of the world) daily,
they must do all in their power to discredit--Liberals and anything
that looks libera. Discussing poverty and supporting unions--is
enough to make GOP reach for the Vapors.

John Edwards is perceived as the biggest threat.

The other reason. NO disrespect to Hilary, but there are
many many Republicans just licking their chops waiting for
an election--Hilary V Rudy. They think Rudy can win. I say
do not underestimate Hilary.

For these GOPers Edwards is in the way: so they use anyone they can
to try to bring him down. If they would succeed, they would then
go after Obama. Hilary V Rudy is their goal.

If you are unimportant, they will leave you alone.

10. Has Fournier stopped beating his wife? Actually, it's a fairly sympathetic piece towards Edwards.

Edit-

you know, I have issues with Edwards but what a loaded, bullshit headline and premise this mediawhore excreted. And it gets published.

Fournier ends up writing a decent piece. But the need for the inflammatory start?

11. Notice none of these hit pieces ever address Edwards' positions. It is always personal...
Edwards survived an intensive opposition research operation during the last Presidential Campaign.

When it comes to positions, they cannot attack Edwards' positions because they fall in line with Democratic voters and Independent/Undecided and Unaffiliated voters --and therein lies the great fear of facing off against Edwards.

IN recent polling, Edwards beat Giuliani, Romney and McCain by an average of 12 pts, and HRC beat them by an average of 4 pts. However, Edwards' favorability ratings are much higher that HRC, and that is another problem for Repubs. They want to run on HRC's high unfavorability numbers.
