Fox News Anchor: 'Officers Should Be Commended' For Tasering Student
Weighing in with his legal opinion regarding police officers' tasering of a University of Florida student, attorney and Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett said no excessive force was used during the incident.

"He is resisting. And the videotape really doesn't lie--it speaks volumes about what's going on," said Jarrett, referring to video of the event that is circulating around the internet. "The law doesn't allow you to resist police officers when they ask you to do something," he added.

The tasered student, Andrew Meyer, was wrestled to the ground by officers after asking Sen. John Kerry a question during a school forum.

"Now you may have a beef with them being there in the first place and trying to escort you out--you can argue that later--but when they ask you to do something, you have to do it. That's the law," Jarrett said.

1. Welcome to Jackboot America!
When this is all said and done can we prosecute FAUX news owners and talking heads as traitors to the Constitution?

2. In all but the most extreme cases I am opposed to tasering.
However, I wouldn't feel too awfully traumatized if I happened to witness the tasering of any of the Fox Noise talking heads. The thought of John Gibson or Britt Hume or DildO'Reilly hollering and flopping around like a gaffed carp would not give me nightmares. I might be able to bear up, even though I don't approve of tasering. Most of the time.

5. Some here on this Democratic board, have said the same thing
I haven't seen the video because I'm on dial-up and it takes forever to see videos, but I've known people who have been tasered who did NOT deserve it. Yeah, I'm against the use of tasers and so should everyone else on this discussion board.

6. apparently, the student sort of agrees:
(SNIP) While Kerry pleaded for calm, officers warned the student he would be shocked if he did not stop resisting.

Meyer responded, "What did I do? Get off me ... get the f--- off me, man, I didn't do anything. Don't Tase me, bro, I didn't do anything."

Police noted that his demeanor "completely changed once the cameras were not in sight" and described him as laughing and being lighthearted as he was being driven to the Alachua County Detention Center.

"I am not mad at you guys, you didn't do anything wrong. You were just trying to do your job," Meyer said, according to the police report.

At one point, he asked whether there were going to be cameras at the jail, according to the report. (SNIP)

7. Our local Fox Network newcast covered this story tonight and made sure to include
that "perhaps the student planned to be tasered in advance and staged the event".

My hats off to him if he did. The story is making even the local news broadcasts...
