Poll question: What are the Odds we will have ground troops in Iran by the end of the Bush Presidency?

In your opinion. Just curious what the feeling is today. Sorry meant to say Iran - for those who saw Iraq chalk it up to stupidity on my part.

1. Unless Bush/Cheney can 'hire' another army, it's fairly slim. We don't have the troops!

4. I get the impression attempts to clarify this won't go well
But allow to say that I mean openly, as an invading force.

You really should clarify.

3. I voted nil.
I've no concept of ground troups being used. If it happens it will all be air, Isreal will largely disappear overnight and * will be scratching his head trying to figure if can he sell the idea of moving what was Israel to Alabama to the folks who live there now.

judging by the way these guys are talking now I think it is very likely. The only way to stop it would be for Congress to sign on to an impeachment resolution now!

But I don't think those facts matter to the people are likely to get us into this war (assuming we get into it).

bordered by mountains on all sides.

Hope they protect them...at least from ground troops.

To be considering a war with Iran, even in the tiniest part of *'s tiny brain is just insane.

21. i think saber rattling is a convenient way for Bush to distract our fellow americans
away from looking at Iraq and thats about all. I could be totally wrong on this and it sure wouldn't' be the first time but Iraq was a lot easier to take than Iran will ever be.

14. Bombs not troops.
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 02:20 PM by endarkenment
The plan has been to bomb the crap out of Iran, not invade it, but plans are one thing and then

Shit Happens

so I give troops on the ground a 1-24% and bombs on the ground 90-100%.

Oh, and by many accounts we already have some troops in Iran doing shit.

23. No ground troops at all. Shredded troops, yes; but no ground troops.
Seriously, the Administration will have no troops that it COULD send to Iran.

However, we may have nuclear war with Iran by year's end.

24. Very strong possibility. They definitely want to do it, but I think they just haven't figured out
how... yet.

Along that line, let me throw this out there.

Could the "accidental" flight of the nukes to LA have been a thwarted attempt to sneak a "small" warhead into the region, whereupon they use it either against Iran, where they would call it "an accident with Iran's weapons development program", and create a pretext to build a "coalition" for the resulting invasion, or alternatively, to nuke Iraq and place the blame on Iran, where they could then do the same thing?

I sincerely doubt that anyone in DU is well enough informed to actually state odds. Oh, we all have opinions, but they are subjective as hell based on the various slanted (both ways) streams of noise we recieve in the guise of news.

27. A better question might be..
What are the odds Iran will have ground troops in Iraq by the end of the Bush presidency?

If Bush goes ahead with his air strikes, the Iranian Army just might feel the need to rid Iraq of it's American problem.

30. Bombs, not boots, on the ground...
Unless the draft gets fired up again, and the economy switches gears for war, it can't happen.

But VonCheney will get his wish, and some people will die.
