Question for Reid and Pelosi -
If Bush and Cheney preemptively attack Iran, without Congressional authorization, will you move to impeach either?

DU, what do you think their answer would be? Me, I'm skeptical that they would.

1. With all the resolutions they have passed
laying the groundwork, seems doubtful unless "Murikans" finally raised hell despite the lack of an informative press.

2. If they drop a few bombs and that's it, you are probably right
And the American people wouldn't do much about it either.

But if they do more or are "forced" to do more well than I would hope there would be an outrage the sort that we couldn't stand back anymore.

But who knows.

8. There will be no "drop a few bombs and that's it" with Iran.
They are not Iraq after the Gulf war. They have offensive capabilities. They will use them.

3. At this point
I don't know what it would take for them to impeach. The repubs almost had Clinton impeached for lying about a blow job, but Bush can overthrow an entire country, and then occupy said country without consequence.

10. No, the Republicans did not 'almost' have Clinton impeached
They impeached him.

There was a trial in the Senate. The Senate aquitted him on all charges.

6. The words "attack Iran" should not even be in any sane person's
vocabulary. If Squeaker and Mouse have not uttered a word when the first hints of this plan were heard - well, you can forget about it.

7. I thought they already voted
that he doesn't need to come back to congress to get approval to attack Iran? It was attached to another bill and can't remember which one. I don't remember which bill though, does anyone? Hope I am remembering incorrectly.

9. Ya know what? You may be correct. Bush clearly has some wiggle room..

<snip>
The statute Congress passed in fall 2002 authorizing military force against Iraq allows the President to use force to "enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq." After the U.S.-led invasion, the Security Council issued resolutions authorizing coalition forces to "take all necessary measures" to secure Iraq, including "preventing and deterring terrorism," "ensur force protection" and "counter ongoing security threats posed by forces seeking to influence Iraq's political future through violence." Iran's actions arguably fall within this authorization in several ways. Besides supporting Shiite Iraqi insurgents in attacking U.S. forces and Sunni civilians, Iran's military appears to be entering Iraqi territory: its recent seizure of British sailors apparently took place in Iraqi waters, and last fall Iranian troops apparently crossed into Iraq and attacked U.S. and Iraqi forces there.

12. Not exactly
There was a push by some Democrats to add a provision to a bill to frobid Bush from attacking Iran without prior Congressional approval. This provision was never voted on, if I recall correctly.
