man of texas declares " I'll never shop at Wal-Mart again"
my man of texas went on a rant against big box today. It was a sight to behold. From now on he says, our whole family will make it a point to buy american. I'm so proud {{sniff}} he's finally seeing the light.

3. That is classic
Saw it earlier in the year, and snagged a copy for my files. It made the e-mail rounds to my F&F shortly after.

16. This picture is being posted in the newborn nursery where I work
It will surely lend a laugh to all of the nurses who listen to the incessant cries of the babies that are addicted to nicotine.

7. I have never, and will never, set foot in one of those places.
Or Sam's Club, or Target, or Costco.

And I no longer go to Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, or any other "box".

I shop only Independents.

Every retailer in our Town is independently owned.

Good for your husband.

We just need a few million more like him.

15. I know that, but I find those big stores with miles of inventory somewhat dehumanizing.
It's a personal thing with me.

22. That makes perfect sense to me.
I go there now and again; good values from a good company.

But I really just don't like the actual store itself.

18. I know, I just cannot stand those stores.
A lot of my neighbors drive thirty miles to go to Costco.

I could never plan purchases that far ahead, anyway.

Every day, I go to our local market for what I will drink and eat tonight.

Here it is 6PM and I have know idea what I am going to have tonight (except for a couple of Martinis and two or three bottles of wine). I will decide once inside our Independently-owned grocery store.

I do appreciate Costco, but there is nothing there that I need that I cannot purchase locally.

27. Not only that but it is just not cost effective for a family of three.
I don't need 10 friggin pounds of cheese. Or 600 ounces of laundry detergent.

Mind you some of the offerings at Costco are a good deal. But if you are the shopper in your family and are keen to what is and is not a good deal, and you are not shopping for a large family; you do much better at the market and by watching the ads. IMO

11. its chinamart around here or nothing pretty much and I am swearing off them to
just tired of taking cheap shit back for an exchange. at one time walmart was a made in america type store. the one near here used to have we proudly sell made in america products or something like that, that was back in the mid 70's. when I'm in their store I always make it a point to point out to every one who might be paying attention, saying things like they don't have many things made in the usa in here anymore do they. I don't care if I have to pay double I want a made in the USA product everytime if I can get it.

I noticed on a lot of their food it will be outdated too, especially if its discounted almost every time I look it is out of date,

anyways I'm happy for you and proud of your husband

29. It is EXTREMELY difficult just to buy non-Chinese, much less American
I really make a point everytime I shop to either buy American or get something from some country other than China, but it is indeed difficult at times. Had to buy a bunch of furniture, but our coffee table and even the nice chair we got from Italsofa were made in China. The tag on the chair said, "The Italian Touch." Yes, I believe an Italian probably touched the plans before they were sent off to China to be manufactured. Of course the first one was absolute sh*t and had to be replaced due to multiple defects. Electronics are a joke. EVERYTHING electronic seems to be made in China. Recently I actually found something electronic made in Taiwan. Yay!

Regardless, I have been able to find pencils, miscellaneous office supplies, artwork, a sofa and even a concert T-shirt (courtesy of the Flaming Lips and American Apparel) that were actually made in the good old U.S. of A!

My hat is off to anyone else who is trying to do the same, as our economy depends on it.

21. That's fantastic. I can get anything I need from
Savers (Value Village some places), Freecycle, and small businesses without breaking the bank and without supporting corporate slaveholders. We all slip now and then, but making an effort is a worthwhile pursuit, and WalMart is the big daddy of the corporatocracy.

Rock.

(And cheaper, at Savers - I think my entire current wardrobe is from there, along with most of my furniture and other odds and ends.)
