I stand with MoveOn!
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 06:01 PM by Nutmegger
MoveOn.org has been receiving a lot of crap, from people on both sides, about their well done ad in the NYTimes today.

I stand with MoveOn.

Every thing that has been said today was a complete LIE. Violence has gone down? Surge objectives are being met? Iran this and that?

LIES!

It is sad that General Petraeus is channeling Bush Inc, and their usual talking points but it was to be expected. One thing is for certain: It is the "Betray us" report. By lying in front of the American people and being a good partisan Bush foot soldier, he has betrayed us.

I will now send some money to MoveOn. It's not much, but it's a token of my appreciation for always standing up for what we believe in and getting the word out!

7. He did what again?
I had low expectations from the man who is still silent on the 2004 theft. But this would be even lower. Please tell me I misunderstood your post!

36. I was stunned enough to do a search. Indeed:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/09/10/petraeus.moveon/
GOP calls on top Senate Dem to condemn anti-Petraeus ad

and right after Joementum, comes Kerry:
Sen. John Kerry, D-Massachusetts, called the ad "over the top."

"I don't like any kind of characterizations in our politics that call into question any active duty, distinguished general who I think under any circumstances serves with the best interests of our country," said Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate and a decorated veteran.

32. THAT royally pissed me off!
Does he not remember Colin Powell at the UN? WTF is he thinking?

I guess we really shouldn't expect any more from a man who refused to stand and fight for his stolen election......AFTER he promised his supporters he would.:grr:

33. But, but Kerry supported the 'Take A Stand in September' vigils with MoveOn!!!
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 08:25 PM by Breeze54
Hello Breeze,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to remind you of two events:

First, tomorrow is the date for Americans Against Escalation in Iraq's Town Halls and MoveOn.org's End It in September Vigils.
Those organizations are working hard to make these events as large and important as humanly possible, so if you can attend an event in your area, please do. The Republicans in the Senate have stood in the way of getting a new direction in Iraq policy long enough. Show them that we won't stand for it anymore.

Click here to find the event in your area.

Second, today is the last day to vote in the Roadblock Republicans Radio Contest. We've had many thousands of votes, and the voting has been extremely close. Only a few hundred votes separate the top 4 candidates, so vote for the ad you think is the best. Voting closes tonight at midnight.

So go here to vote.

You'll receive an email after the votes have been tabulated to let you know which script will be aired in the Roadblock Republican states.

We're going to have a busy month in September. I'll keep you up to date as everything unfolds.

Thank you,
John Kerry

Seems to me he didn't actually READ the Ad in the NYT!!

"The Republicans in the Senate have stood in the way of getting a new direction

Take A Stand, Senator Kerry!!!! :grr:

2. The ad was pretty mild compared to what it could have been, and the complaints about it are lame.
Good job, MoveOn. You should answer the criticisms with an ad calling out each one of the critics.

4. No kidding! I do, too.
I called that ileana bush-fellatio's office and told her that I, as one of those MoveOn supporters, resented her patronizing, snippy little comment - "TAKE IT EASY!!!" to one of her colleagues who evidently took offense that, because he was a Democrat, perhaps he was "guilty" by association. Don't know who that was, but evidently he's sensitive about it, too. But I told the staffer for ileana's office that it is SHE who needs to "TAKE IT EASY!!!"

You better be careful when you sling those putdowns all over the place, ileana.

5. You know I am not so liberal - and I looked at what move-on did
And I think it was not only very smart but commendable.

Jesus - at least they said what they meant and didn't back down.

Nice job move-on. You can safely ignore the patronizing little bastards that say otherwise right now.

19. Yes!
I'm so tired of playing nice with these bastards. We have played nice, and nothing gets through. People are being killed daily; it's time to call them out for what they really are.

This is nowhere near what the Repukes have done in the past. It cannot even be compared.

20. You'd think Democrats would understand this by now, wouldn't you?
No matter what we say, they will pile on full-throated with their
usual roars, accusing us of everything and anything that they
can think of.

One of these days, you'd think we'd get over worrying about
what "they" will say.

Tesha

I think it was a brilliant ad that may actually create some curiosity on the part of the sheeple ... or, at least give them something to remember when it comes out that this hearing today was as legitimate as Colon Powell's presentation to the UN.

17. Military folks shouldn't attack political folks, and the same is true in reverse.
It is incredibly disturbing how politicized our nation's military has become. It's a very dangerous path, and we should look to Rome to see where it leads.

24. Maybe though the military needs some reminder that their oath
was to the constitution and NOT to a political philosophy.

You are right about how that kind of thing turned out for Rome.

It is dangerous.

I thought Eli said it very well on HardBall yesterday when he said that if they had done the same type of ad when Powell went to the UN they would have received the same type of criticism, yet if they had done such an ad, perhaps we wouldn't be in the no win position we are now.
