Senator Joe Biden Will Not Vote To Cut Funding For Iraq Occupation
Meet The Press: Senator Joe Biden Will Not Vote To Cut Funding For Iraq Occupation

This morning on Meet The Press, Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden walks in lockstep with right-wing talking points on Iraq funding. When asked by host Tim Russert if he would vote to cut off funding for Iraq if President Bush refuses to accept a withdrawal date, Biden moves directly to the “cutting off funding means you don’t support the troops” mentality pulled straight from the pages of the RNC playbook. Instead of speaking the truth, that it means appropriating funds to begin a safe and smart withdrawal from the country, not abandoning out troops, Biden instead says he won’t vote to cut off funding and chooses to chastise Democrats who support it.

It’s infuriating to say the least to see Biden falling for the White House framing– not one single Democrat in Congress wants to leave our soldiers stranded in the middle of the desert with no food, water, ammo or protection–and cutting off Bush’s funding would not do that–and Senator Biden should know better.

1. There are billions upon billions in the Pentagon budget request. There
are trillion missing. The troops wouldn't do without. But corporate looting sure would be slowed down to a trickle for the boondoggle that is the 'war on terra'.

2. I saw that--he acts as if other Dems are going to leave our soldiers
out there without canteens and body armor. What an ass. I don't support defunding, myself, but not because I think Dems will actually harm troops--I oppose it because even Dems like Biden PERPETUATE this myth themselves--it's hopeless. Defunding would be politically devastating--why do you think all the neocons are taunting Dems to do it? Anyway, Biden is mostly saying this shit to damage the frontrunners--he often puts his own ambitions ahead of the party, and this is but another example.

3. he supports the troops by sending them to Iraq
in a war which he says produces no meaningful progress, and we are supposed to say righty, righty, good idea, you are so
nice give a small percentage of them bomb proof transports and spending trillions.

4. He seemed to use these new, better armored vehicles as an
excuse to support funding. Why can't they just vote money to continue that but not anything else?

5. And he thinks this will make people want him to be the president?
The repubs don't care - they will never vote for him anyhow. The Dems won't buy that kind of suckupism. And those who are undecided favor withdrawal and will soon come to the realization that the only way to accomplish that is to cut off funding.

This guy biden is nothing more than a loud mouthed asshole in love with the sound of his own voice.

6. Heres a novel idea
How about cutting off funding to Halliburton and their cronies (given that the newly minted Dubai company isn't responsible for taxes any longer) and put out to bid for real American companies to supply real protective gear to our troops.

Come on, Joe. Your kid is being sent over there. Do something that MATTERS as opposed to rubber stamping the crap the * admin wants you to swallow.

9. Then I will not vote for Joe Biden
We can start a withdraw now. Than we don't have to worry about the funding do we Joe.

12. I went round and round with a person this morning
agreeing with Biden, that he didnt want to see the troops "stranded". I said I dont want our troops becoming "hostages", kept in harm's way to get funds...somewhere this has to stop.

13. "supporting the troops" is taking them out of the Fiasco.
There is plenty of money for a major draw down. The problem is that the majority of Dems actually support the continued US Occupation.

The Dems have found a way now to keep the US Occupation in place.
That is what they wanted all along. They voiced the opposite just to garner votes for '06. Dems will still pretend to be in favor of major US Draw Down from Iraq to garner a majority in the Senate & the Pres. for '09 all the while keeping the US Occupation active. There is no way that Repugs or Dems are going to allow Iraq's oil to be controlled by "Terrorists" or anyone else. There is no way that Rethugs or Dems will allow Iran to be the Top Dog in the ME. The US Govt. will control that oil flow & the US Occupation shall continue for decades in one form or another. Americans are being gamed by both Repugs & Dems.
