3. Dammit
Leave Mom and Dad outta this.

Half of them are dead already thanks to Dad.

I feel bad enough as it is.

7. One minor error

Considering the rest of the guy's speech, I'd say that
it was pretty clear that one thing he had NOT been doing
was "Thinking!"

on edit: "fantasizing" would have been more like it.......

8. You are being sincere
so it's difficult for me to point out how women may find this cartoon, illustrative as it is, an unwanted reminder of times when they were no more than an extension to their husband.

If you place it along with camp cartoons, blackface cartoons - would it's message stand up?

9. As a woman, I find it a welcome reminder
that attitudes towards women used to really suck, and that they could again if we don't remain vigilant. What's really strange is that I know there are still men out there who are like this; what's funny is that they're most likely to find any potential date giving him the answer this gal did. }(

12. Without her crucial response the message would be lost.
As it stands, the woman is empowered to say "not on your life, Mr. 1950's Republican." So I took it to be a freeing message for women, but I'm sorry it was an unwanted reminder. I just would hate for our American talibornagains to return women to that era!

10. brings me back to stories I heard in a college class in the 70's-I was 17, young naive-the women in
the class were in their 30's, 40, and 50's.

I couldn't believe the horror stories about what they were allowed to do or not do.

Most had been told they could not work outside the home or take college classes. They were treated like servants and maids.

Most got divorced (without having to call the funeral director) and finally were able to go back to school to get an education, get a job and get independence and their self-esteem back.

The class was called "Feminine Life Cycles" at Indian Valley College in Novato, California and it left a huge impression on me...

Must be part of what made me so self-reliant and independent!
