At the school where I work I like to check the news on DU or huffingtonpost.com
on my lunch break. Now they have blocked these sites from all city employees but alas I can still get the Drudge Report. How about that!

1. I'm not opposed to site blocking

but it should be across the board. Maybe a little ringy dingy to the city attorney's office (or other appropriate entity) would be in order. Why should those who lack intellectual curiousity be able to peruse and not others? Especially if this is a politically motivated action.

3. I'm not opposed to site blocking either, but, yes all progressive sites are
blocked then all political sites should be closed. It's just hard to get real news from the mainstream ABC, NBC etc..... Those sites are still available for news.

2. I heard there are ways around that
Check to see if there are any specific rules against circumventing web filters. I'm not sure if it really works, but here is one:

http://stickingittotheman.com/howto/blocked_web_sites.html

1) Go to a site that has a translation program, such as Babel Fish.
2) Enter the URL of the blocked page.
3) For a translation, select German/Spanish/whatever to English. This way, if you are viewing an English language site, nothing (or almost nothing) will get changed.
4) Hit translate and you should now be able to view your previously blocked site.

5. You're welcome
I didn't mean to ignore the point of your post that they still allowed Drudge Report. That's really disturbing news.

6. Make a complaint about Drudge
Tell the city that you believe it is a hate site and that it offends you.
