Feith and Co.: They're not "delusional", they were intentionally lying.

Come on now. Yellowcake, bioweapons trailers, aluminum tubes...

This was a deliberate misinformation campaign to blow enough smoke up the media's and the nation's ass to achieve the desired result, support for invasion of a country that had not attacked or threatened the U.S.

The lies were rather shabby and weak, as well, and their creators are smart enough to know that they wouldn't stand up to any scrutiny.

Their assumption was likely that Americans would be so happy about the results of the easy conquest that either the lie campaign would either never be scrutinized, or that even if it were, not enough people would care.

People like Feith are still lying, not deluded... they're just doing it now to deny they were lying earlier and avoid culpability.

2. And close to 20,000 maimed for life.
But it is old news says David Brooks. Feith left his post over two years ago after all, says David.

Lies and the cover up artists who enabled them are afraid of only one thing ... charges in a court of law. Well if it's good enough for Scooter it is good enough for any of them who perpetrated this CON job.

3. ...and they do it because the KNOW they can get away with it.
Talk, talk, talk, talk - committees, reports, etc - but when it all comes down to it, we seem to be living in an age of impotence when it comes to actually doing anything to change it. This is a very dark time for our country - actually, our culture. I even see it where I work - we have meetings, committees, talk about the need to change - but nothing ever happens differently. Maybe we should all turn off the TV and stop living in the entertainment age and video game age. We need to get back to feeling, experiencing, and doing.

5. They lied because they are delusional neocons. I posted on another thread yesterday, lying is part
of their ideology, a delusional one at that.

9. And The Sad Thing Is - We Knew Right When They Were Giving Us All...
this information that they were lying. At DU here - we complained about people like Feith. I remember watching CSPAN and very late at night was the only time that Dems in Congress could take to the floor and Congressmen like Jim McDermott (D-Wash) would be putting into the record that this was all a sham. Nobody listen. The MSM didn't pick it up. They just let *CO take us down this path of the Iraqi quagmire. It's really ashamed that nothing can be done about people like Feith, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, Rove, Libby, Matalin, Hughes, Powell, Tenet, Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Ridge & * himself. (did I leave anybody out?)

13. I knew also. I used to post on an AOL message board, banging my head against the wall
with the bushbots there who couldn't see it. I supplied endless links showing how this was being propagated by sociopath ideologues. I posted on Rebuilding America's Defenses, point by point. I posted AIEA reports, the transcript of Hussein Kamel, who defected from Iraq, and claimed that all WMDs had been destroyed and programs stopped right after the first Gulf War. I gave them Scott Ritter, Ray McGovern and showed how the yellow cake claim was based on forgeries.. And you know what? If little old insignificant me knew that it was a sham, how can anyone vote for President anyone who bought it hook, line and sinker. Or worse, knew the truth but voted for war anyway, claiming now that they were duped. Then you have the case of Obama, and his vote to confirm Rice in Committee. Barbara Boxer gave this eloquent account of how Rice was behind these lies all the time, and Obama votes to confirm anyway???

As I look back, I have so far been 100% correct on what has happened. That's very depressing btw...knowing what would manifest and not be able to do a damn thing to stop it.

15. No, stuff can be done.
That's absolutely 100% false. You could not be anymore wrong. We can punish these bastards if we want to. The problem is that not enough people at DU believe in themselves. You just need to have a heart.

6. jonas goldberg on NPR....
yesterday. Saying bush increased education spending by 200 percent, same with spending on a whole buncha other domestic things, so dems should go easy. He defended bush's Iraq war, which goldberg says was a 'mistake', by insisting bush's intentions were always honourable etc... and we should look forward, not back. NPR makes it all sound so earnest, so darn sincere. But just featuring a criminal like goldberg make NPR managers crooks themselves, imo.
hangem all, let god sortem out

8. Fucking Goldberg and his ilk are in part responsible for all the deaths in Iraq.
EVEN NOW with the evidence, they still support these criminals.

7. Bingo, they are NOT delusional.....
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 09:49 AM by hwmnbn
They knew exactly what they were doing. They lied on purpose. They made a mess of Iraq and those lies are being slowly exposed.

They will have to plead guilty or not guilty. They cannot plead insanity.

11. Of course. They are neither naive nor gullible; they do have ample evidence, however,
that Americans are.
