Followup to the animal shelter emergency in Adams County, OH
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 07:55 AM by theHandpuppet
Thank you to the many DUers who expressed their concern for these pets. I thought you would want to know that all of the remaining dogs have been rescued and placed in foster care until the shelter can be repaired.

“Between Portsmouth and the help from Shawnee Animal Clinic, and Cincinnati, the response has just been tremendous,” Davis said.

With nearly all of the dogs removed from the facility, the arduous task of cleaning up the mess now begins.

Mary Cassidy, of Manchester, heard about the situation at the dog pound and volunteered to help clean out the mess.

“She said, ‘I will do the job that nobody else wants to do,' and she came in with a shovel and black garbage bags and she got down on her hands and knees with paper towels and cleaned out the sewage line. She removed all the feces from the drain,” Davis said. “ ... I'm just amazed at her.”

**********

With all of the animal cruelty going around, I thought one story about people who care was due.

1. Was just looking at the Pets Forum
when you posted this f/u. I sent your OP to Best Friends in Utah to see if they could help. It's indeed heartening to hear of the rapid response to such an awful situation. Much of the time we never get to hear outcomes, so this post is doubly appreciated.
