My letter to Senator Craig
Senator Craig,

In 2002 266,215 Idahoans voted for you to serve six years in the United States Senate. They did not vote for you to serve five years and walk away from your duty. 266,215 Idahoans outweighs a few of your senate colleagues. Listen to the people who voted not to John McCain or any other senator.

Also, you have no way of knowing that the people of Idaho do not want you to serve another six years in the United States Senate unless you give them the opportunity to say so. You can not just go around and ask them if they want you to run or not, a wise Louisiana governor once said "I can never find anyone who says they will vote for me before the election and can find no one who says they didn't vote for me the day after the election." The only way to know is to file for re-election and operate a vigorous campaign.

Do not resign. Do not retire willingly.

3. You don't think the senator should run an all out campaign in 2008?

I've been sending letters to Mark Foley trying to get him to run for his old seat too.

7. In Idaho? You think a Dem has a chance?
...I think that might be a bit optimistic, no?

9. Idaho loves nuts and hypocrites
I live in the semi-blue town of Boise, afloat in a deep red State. My congressman is a certified lunatic named Bill Sali. Given their choice of perceived sinners (evil Democrat or R-Hypocrite), the rubber-stamping red folk will almost always pick the hypocrite. If Craig survives his "ordeal" and decides to run again, he's home free if he can weasel his way to his party's nomination. Unfortunately for him, the state and national GOP will pull out all the stops to make sure that doesn't happen. To them, the only thing worse than a two-faced poster child who resigns (Foley) is a two-faced poster child who remains in office. A high-profile still-in-office Sen. Larry Craig would be a constant reminder of why it's not a very good idea to vote Republican any more (not that it ever was).

2. Fight the good fight, Larry. Put campaign posters in mens rooms all over Idaho.
Meanwhile, drag this out until the whole world tells you to get lost.

4. Fight, Larry Fight!
I propose weekly press availabilities in which you once again announce that you are not now gay, nor have you ever been gay.
