Continuing to find parallels between the Bush Crime Family's activities and those of Hitler's Germany or the Soviets under Stalin or Orwell's novels Animal Farm and 1984 is beyond pointless and, in fact, becoming tiresome and crushingly redundant. The comparisons are so obvious, so blatant, so calculated, so fibrous, it is like comparing water to . . . water.

Therefore, it is only business as usual to find the Bush Crime Family has now declared that the White House Office of Administration is no longer subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). This closing off of one of the deepest pustules of Bush corruption from court-ordered and Congressional-mandated public scrutiny comes in a motion filed Tuesday by the Bush Justice Department in an attempt to prevent the release of millions of emails missing from White House servers. A lawsuit had been filed last May by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a nonprofit, government watchdog group seeking access to what would be a treasure box filled with evidence of impeachable corruption and violation of the law.

Congress has sought access to these emails as part of its probe into the administration's firing of nine U.S. federal prosecutors in 2006. According to today's Washington Post, "Much of the White House, including the offices of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, is not subject to FOIA, which allows the media and the public to demand disclosure of federal public records. But the Office of Administration, which was formed in 1977 and handles various administrative and technology duties, responded to 65 FOIA requests last year and even has its own FOIA officer, records show." Yes, but, reality is what The Red Queen says it is. Therefore, in its 20-page motion, the Justice Department argues that past behavior is irrelevant; what may have happened yesterday or last year or . . . whenever, no longer applies. Definitions have changed. Words have new meanings. Language has shifted, as have shapes, forms, points on the compass. The Bush Crime Family "creates" its own reality. As did the Nazis, Stalin, Orwell's O'Brien and the pigs of Animal Farm.

So, yet another attempt to pry truth, honor, leadership, dignity, or even competence from this filthy administration ends as it started: With Bush's utter contempt and disrespect for the rule of law and the authority of the US Constitution.

When will the American people declare they have had enough of this and remove from office - legally and peacefully - the most corrupt and threatening regime in US political history?

The live-broadcast is essential in keeping the dialogs open, and this time-shifting has a definite negative impact. I'm confused and I live here! It's just that when you're in what's perceived as the most liberal area of the country and your ONE progressive radio station starts wussing out, you just go :eyes:. They'll program a couple hours of recycling BS and then claim no one's listening and go to a sports format.:mad:

156. Well, when AAR came to Chattanooga it was on 1310 am,

a very low frequency am station. There was no advertisement to let people know that AAR was going to start, there was no one at the station to field calls trying to tell them that the station had gone dead, and there wasn't a functioning website for communication either, etc.

During the time that 1310 was on the air, the rwingnuts went absolutely apeshit, and the transmitting towers were sabotaged twice. The radio stations around here are owned by repukes so I didn't think that it was very hard to figure out.

186. AAR's NY affiliate, the flagship station, WWRL, SUCKS. I live less than

10 miles from NYC and I can barely hear it after 6pm. On the weekends, all they have on is infomercials about vitamins and the local early morning show is co-hosted by Armstrong Williams.

191. We bought an antennae so that we could try to receive it in

the house because I wanted to hear Stepanie Miller who was on 1310, but Springer was on XM. I used to sit in the car in driveway, when I was still driving the kids to school, and the younger cat would pounce onto the hood of the car, then she would get into the car with me to listen to "Momma", but I couldn't pick it up in the garage.

AAR hasn't been dealt a very good hand when it comes to stations that people can actually hear, despite the lack of advertisements and support.

About 6 yrs. ago we thought about selling our house and building one with basically the same sq. footage (roughly 2800+. we don't do McMansions), just with a different floor plan, and when we realized we'd have to pack up all of the stuff we've accumulated over 18 yrs., well, we're still here!

When I fired up the grill 2 nights ago, I was in tears a while later, because Nosy would come out of nowhere when the grill was fired up. Almost as if to say,'thanks humans, now what are we having'? Today, thunder was booming all around us, and thunder was another thing that would cause him to come running home, but he didn't show up. I'm still looking, but it's not looking good.

You'd think the LOC would pick some other book to promote. As fantasy, it's passable, but it's always been to me a downmarket Lord of the Rings (understanding, of course, that JRRT and CSL were contemporaries and acquaintances). And even people use white-out to make corrections in MSWord understand that how thinly-veiled the Xtian preaching is.

It's another example of what Bonhoeffer called "cheap grace", and don't even get me started on Lewis's apologia.

It was really bad back in 2004, and then abated some. Now it's back for some reason. The largest hate group on DU is the southern bashing group.

194. The South bashers should visit my city, or parts of Brooklyn, especially the areas that are

largely Italian. My mother-in-law told me a story about a woman who lived on her block whose husband was terribly abusive. Eventually this woman dumped the asshole and started dating an African American man who from all accounts was a very nice person. The neighbors reacted so badly to this that she had to move from the block. The neighbors had no problem with the white wife-beater, but they couldn't deal with a person of color living in their neighborhood.

Another story: When I was still working at Cafe RNC, the sous chef (who was maybe 22-years-old) actually used the "N" word. You would not believe how I went off on him. His excuse was that his father uses it. There's plenty of racism up here in the North, people just choose to ignore it.

edited to add: I'm Italian. I'm not bashing Italians, I'm just ashamed of the racism. One of the first things all immigrant groups leared when they got here was to hate black people.

195. When I was drafted, there was this guy in my training company

from Indiana. He used the "N" word all the time and bragged about his father being in the KKK. This was 1970, and I was from Alabama, yet I had never met such a bigot as this in 23 years of living in the south. When I was sent to Washington, DC, I had a roommate from Boston for a few months. My friends in Alabama sounded like moderates compared to this dipstick.

I think it makes people feel better to believe that all the bad stuff was relegated to one part of the country. That need to feel good, however, prevents us from owning our history which is the only way we can move on from it.
