Why do we call them conservatives when what they really are
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 02:02 PM by Cleita
is regressives? Conservative means to conserve, to be responsible fiscally, to pass legislation that conserves what we have and not squander it. The Republicans are nothing of the sort. Instead they keep wanting to regress us back to an earlier stage of our civilization where there was no equality nor opportunity for the majority of our citizens and where constant war was the norm of society. If we Democrats call ourselves progressives, then we need to call the conservatives more accurately regressives and that is the truth of whom they are.

1. You're using the wrong definition...
con·served, con·serv·ing, con·serves
v.tr.
1.
a. To protect from loss or harm; preserve:
b. To use carefully or sparingly, avoiding waste: kept the thermostat lower to conserve energy.

2. To keep (a quantity) constant through physical or chemical reactions or evolutionary changes.
3. To preserve (fruits) with sugar.

Think more along the lines of definition 1a. Their job is to protect from loss or harm financially the richest 1% of the population. They conserve, or preserve the status quo of the rich elite.

2. I haven't called Republicans conservatives for a long time
One sure indication that they are not conservative:
They keep calling themselves conservative. This in itself
is grounds for suspicion.

Even Richard Viguerie wrote a book entitled "Conservatives Betrayed."
If Richard is fed up with them, that's about as clear an indication
as you can want that their "conservative" credentials are bogus.

3. De constructing "Republican", we have "publican"-in the Biblical use of that term
it meant some of the very worst sort of citizen criminals, corrupted tax collectors who were lying robbers and murderers aligned with the Pharisees that condemned Jesus Christ to death based on lies.

So it's really a hoot to remind the RW fundamentalist Republican CINO (Christians In Name Only) of this, and that Jesus Christ often went into the homes of publicans and Pharisees and laid the Truth on them.

Most of them wanted to kill Him for casting aspersions on their professions and good names, all He did was speak honestly.

That's my humble faith-based opinion about those "Republicans" that claim to be the Party of God when all they really are is evil and using God's name to set-up "non-profits" and a lot of other crap like not acknowledging those of us of faith that point out that since God put their Decider in the WH it is obviously to "punish the nations" and that the methodologies are diabolical, anti-Christian, truly evil.

I don't like theocracy, I love democracy and the separation of Church and State and I hate RW fundamental hypocrites and criminals that have eyes that don't see and ears that don't hear-that's why we are being governed by fascists.
