Sorry about trampling on your rights but I am happy to hear about this
new ordinance in "somewhere I can't figure out right now" that is going to ban the seeing of the underwear because your pants are down your ass.

I hate seeing boy's asses hanging out of their pants and if I am being discriminatory like someone just said I would be than so be it. I am not a perfect ACLU member.

Just wanted to share to hear other's thoughts.

1. I offer no opinion on the ban but
isn't it sad that 99% of all bodies should be clothed at all times and it is not the 1% who choose to show theirs in public.

2. I can top that my friend
Atlanta is trying to ban visible undies.
Peter Vallone in NYC is trying to stop pervs from looking up short skirts of women walking down the metal stairs at a near by subway.

So in NYC, they are trying to ban peeking, but are not trying to ban short skirts.

Anyone have updates from the rest of the world?

3. It is about ten thousandth on my list
of things to worry about. There is so much that needs fixing first. Every generation has expressed itself via clothing. Mine was hip huggers, bell bottoms, hot pants, & miniskirts, and there were efforts to ban those then too. Waste of time and energy.

9. You know maybe it is because when I was married I had a stepson
who walked around like that all the time. He also broke into my computer on a regular basis and got into porn sites and basically the kid just made me want to gag and then break his neck. He was around 15 when all of this was happening and I was disgusted beyond words.

I don't remember how I felt about those ass pants before then.

I still think they are gaggy but I guess people should have a right to wear whatever.

6. there are alot of things that alot of people hate
most of those biases should not be proscribed into law, but if they are, I really hate hearing Led Zeppelin on the radio. Let's get the Led out!!

Also, why do you think you are seeing a boy's a$$ when you are seeing his underwear? Most of the underwear I see does not look all that different than my dad's 'swim trunks'.

7. I understand your feelings on this and basically agree with them, but
if I had any power to ban stuff I don't like there would be a lot of unhappy people out there.

For example, I would make it illegal for anyone who is not legitimately retarded to wear a baseball cap sideways, because those who do look REALLY retarded to me - and every time I see some moron with a sideways cap on, I want to slap it off his head. Since I'm not allowed to assault people, they shouldn't be allowed to look like mentally-stunted fuckheads. Wear the cap straight or not at all.

I'd also ban open-toed shoes, tank tops (I don't want to see your armpit hair, and if you're overweight I definitely don't want to see your flab), those stupid "half pants / half shorts," off-color sports merchandise (example: green Red Sox hats, pink Yankees hats and so on), and the list coulg go on for a long time.

People who wear baggy pants look like assholes, so let that be punishment enough. Better to have a few laughably stupid-looking assholes wandering around than have a bunch of stupid asshole bureaucrats decide who can wear what, because this could very well be only the first step.

I really dislike tattoos. I can think of lots of things people do that I don't like looking at. People should look the other way if they don't like what someone is doing to their body.

10. Ummm.... I think we can all agree that we, as enlightened, liberal
Americans, can condemn some cultural phenomena as being "stupid" or in poor taste without parlaying that disgust into the realm of legislation, right? That's MY problem with it - people are trying to turn a semi-consensus opinion into legislation.

I mean, what's next? Banning Carrot Top performances?

As for myself, as long as they don't have butt crack showing, the underwear doesn't really bother me.

24. My honor student son wears saggy britches.
It's a small imperfection. His teachers all seem to love him, and he actually hangs out with his teachers after school and during his lunch time. He tells me about conversations he has had with his teachers about politics and ecology. This amazes me because he tends to leave the room if I turn on CSPAN and gets irritated when I yell at the Sunday morning news shows. He also campaigned for Kerry.

Other than his politics and his droopy drawers he's pretty conservative. He was horrified when I got a tattoo when I turned 50.

If he is still dressing like a homey when he turns 18 I'll start worrying.

Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 01:54 PM by ayeshahaqqiqa
if someone else chooses to dress in the manner described, they should be aware of possible consequences--like tripping over their trousers. :) Seriously, I think that teens who wear this style should be aware it is not a good idea to wear it to, say, a job interview or church.

33. Its perfectly legal to be in public in your underwear.
Underwear is not some special classification of clothing.

You could walk around in public in your underwear if you wish, and no one can say anything about it, so long as you are not exposing your genitals, butthole or (for women) nipples.

Just FYI, the ban is useless and illegal.

Just wear the underwear and not the pants.

So long as the flap in the front is stitched closed to prevent any peek-a-boo moments, that would be perfectly legal and quite a funny way to teach people to be careful what they wish for.

I hate yellow sunglasses. Oh, and shirts with really stupid slogans on them. Not all slogans, just the ones I think are stupid.

My thought is that when you start legislating chickenshit like this, you just make it that much more cool to do. I agree it looks stupid as hell. But last I know, looking stupid wasn't a crime and it seems pretty stupid to make it one.

They're clearly meant to be kept inside the jacket.

Also, Mary Hart's voice should be outlawed. ...and John Tesh's music.
