9 months into this Congress and still no reform on Marianas sweatshops-WHY?
and why is no one in the blogosphere or liberal radio addressing this lack of action?
Given how symbolic it was of everything that wrong with the DeLay regime, I would have thought this merited a top position on the Reid/Pelosi to-do list.
And it's not like they don't have the votes to pass it. Hell, the GOP Congress had the votes to pass it-DeLay wouldn't allow it to come to a vote

1. you're kidding, right?
Impeachment, ending the war, investigating all of BushCo, eVoting, and now this. All with a razor-thin majority, barely enough to pass bold legislation let alone override vetoes.

3. actually many in the GOP backed the reforms
informal surveys showed the reforms would have passed in both houses by large margins in the GOP Congress. The leadership wouldn't allow a vote.
So now that the Dems have control, I'd imagine those margins are even wider.
Why no movement? Why no word on the issue from the Democratic leadership?

If Pelosi and Reid let the abuses continue without making even a modest effort, they're no better than Ney and DeLay were on the issue.

2. Too many crimes, too little time
If the Democrats actually focused on doing their job and didn't fret about getting re-elected, we might see some movement in this area. But hell, if they can't countenance impeaching Bush after his war crimes, do you really think they'll cleanup the mess in the Marianas?

9. You have reached the US Congress.
We're away on vacation recess and will be unable to help you at this time. It's also very unlikely we'll be able to help you when you return, but please stay on the line and enjoy the soothing background music.
