It's Bush vs. America - and Bush wins - The Jerusalem Post
What's going on in Washington now is unbelievable - Bush is getting away with it. He's escalating the war in Iraq. He's sending 21,500 more soldiers over there. Nobody's stopping him, nobody's going to, either - not the Democrats, not the new Republican realists and not American public opinion, where Bush is heading down to Nixon's Watergate level.

The war in Iraq is a four-year, runaway disaster, the American voters turned adamantly against it in the November elections, the vaunted James Baker-led panel recommended what most everybody wants - a careful withdrawal, or as careful a withdrawal as possible. In the face of all that, it was just assumed Bush would have to bow to reality.

No way. The exact opposite is happening. Not only is Bush not starting to get the troops out, he's not content to stand pat with the troops he's got there now. No, he's sending over more. The war in Iraq is one of the worst blunders in American history, and the man responsible is now digging America in deeper. And America is letting him do it.

You watch these clowns in Congress, these eunuchs who don't have the balls to even pass what a Bush ally laughed off as a "confetti resolution" - a symbolic statement that wouldn't force Bush to withdraw but would at least officially express Congress's opinion in favor of withdrawal. But they can't even agree on that - they're afraid the White House will accuse them of demoralizing the troops, of encouraging the enemy. It would be too politically risky.

5. Really Has Us Pegged! We Are Letting Bush Get Away With It....
Is there no sanity on Capitol Hill?

This is about lots and lots of AMerican lives -- and lots of lost opportunities as Bush guts the public treasury, breaks our military, and trashes our reputation with the rest of the World.

15. your silent, obedient, consent
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 07:58 AM by Floyd53
While threats of terrorism and fear of losing the security of one's home, job or life, are very useful weapons of fascists, hate mongers, and all oppressors - they still have no control over words. Words will always retain their power. Words are the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth; and the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there. Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And when once we had the right to object, to think and speak as we see fit, we now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing our conformance and soliciting our submission.

How did this happen? Who is to blame? Of course, there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it, I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease, there were a million problems that conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic you turned to your President, the Supreme Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces, of the United States of America.

He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he asked of you in return is your silent, obedient, consent.

Well I for one, planned to end that silence and on November 7th. I hope to see all of us speaking up against those tyrants who occupy our Congress and the White House.

V

25. We owe it to calipendence's pictures of V
I was inspired to paraphrase lines from the movie 'V for Vendetta' because of calipendence's posting V's pictures. I was so impressed by those words that I rented the movie and transcribed them. I did edit it slightly to make it work in our situation.

Pass them on.

Bush doesn't have the will power to admit the truth. It is too painful. Rather than resigning and facing the music, he will hide behind a lie and let the killing continue. His precious pride means more than the life of our sons and daughters. All they really ever wanted to do was share their gift of life with the rest of the world.

21. Obviously they didn't get the message of the 2006 election....
they will continue the war at their own political peril.

It's time for a wakeup call and only the American people can deliver it.

Time for a massive letter writing campaign.

23. I've actually discussed this idea with other friends recently...
That the one area of "media" where we really hardly have any voice now at all and such a rampant amount of the "distraction component" of corporate America is the video game industry. There are still issues with distribution and getting people to get this game through the channels they are normally marketed stuff they get, but I think it would make an excellent title to have out there now.

If you could have a very well laid out interactive "Impeachment" game now, that would have as part of it a Q/A encyclopedia where you could get as many questions possible about the process of impeachment, and what has to happen for each substantively, and then someone else you could ask what evidence we have so far and what needs to be done for further investigations of certain areas, etc. then you could have a way of getting a certain segment of society interested in this topic, and well informed. Perhaps gamers also might like it as a way to recruit others to use their gaming systems too who wouldn't normally play video games.

Then you could actually have the video game itself which could play out scenarios for impeaching Bush, Cheney, and even other lieutenants like Gonzales, etc. and have you play someone like Patrick Fitzgerald, or any of the other entities that might try to do this impeachment, and play out the different scenarios, and that way people can see how much evidence should be gathered for each step to help us ensure impeachment with conviction, and not just a "gesture" to do so.

Anyone know any top notch game designers that have the right sensibilities to help with such a project?
